Don't know the facts but would surmise that they extended the contract so that they can retain his registration which is the thing that prevents him signing for another club in this country.

But wouldn't that require Leon to have agreed to the extention for R&D to retain his registration? Even if that isn't the case, the fact he was sacked annuls his contract and therefore the option of the extention.

I'm not quite sure why he needs a petition. Surely a lawyer would be much more appropriate and/or the CPS if Rushden are behaving illegally.

Not when he was scoring lots of goals for us no. Subsequently though. However, if he owes R & D money then they should go after him for it as I can't see how they can hold somebody they've sacked to ransom, they either have a case for legal action or he does. The thing is that there's no way anybody will pay a fee for him and there's not a lot of point in R & D suing him if he's unemployed.

I have signed it because irrespective of anything else he is entitled to carry on his occupation and earn a living, as indeed anybody is, and it is not for R & D to deny him that right.

I do however, feel that a competatant lawyer would be more beneficial than a petition.
