Not knowing the ins and outs of this what I cant understand is how R & D could extend his contract for another 2 years having sacked him. I would have thought that legally that terminates his contract and any association between them. and him. For them to recoup either £30k or a car is the another seperate matter that should be settled in a county court.

Have to agree with that because if you are sacked then your contract has been terminated!!! At least that is what applies to us common folk but with footballers there is the little matter of the registration.

What seems odd is the silence coming from the PFA, unless they are of course involved in secret negotiations to resolve the matter!

Would have thought that if you terminate a players contract by sacking him, you automatically cancel his registration with you as you have said that you dont want him anymore. As you say that is for us nornmal people but football seems a law unto itself. Who else could insist their debts are paid before HMRC if a club/ business goes into administartion

Abort, retry, fail
If they are in breach then do them over. If they are not then face the consequences. A petition and numerous posts on twitter are not going to help if Leon has defaulted on his requirements. Pay up and get on with it or challenge R&D if they are at fault.

It is notnbeyond the realms of possibility that Leon just left and did not honour his contract. If he did then R&D are surely not going to extend his contract. Im minded to side with the club as opposed to Leon who, perhaps has a history of dishonesty.
