what he have to say? was it worth listening to?

given that we are told when clubs are in admin, that unpayed players are free agents, it seems rather silly that Rushden would have taken the option only to have to start paying him.

Article in today's Guardian about this twit.

The recurring theme with this man is that it is always someone else who is to blame.

I still think he is a prize prick and pretty much embodies all I hate about footballers.

Article in today's Guardian about this twit.

The recurring theme with this man is that it is always someone else who is to blame.

I still think he is a prize prick and pretty much embodies all I hate about footballers.

This article sums it up, also explains how Leon worked abroad to get around having to pay up his registration to become a free agent.

Quote from the article;

The Northamptonshire club kept his registration and made it clear they would demand £30,000 from Knight for its release were he to join another English club, so he resolved to play outside England until his contract expired this summer. Darlington duly believed they were free to sign the striker, now 28, as a free agent but Rushden & Diamonds activated a one‑year contract extension agreed when Knight joined, four months before his sacking.

Despite the former England youth international subsequently unleashing what he describes as "a volcano" on Twitter, the mooted deal immediately collapsed. "Rushden and Diamonds are entitled to retain his registration and are entitled to claim compensation," a Football Association spokesman confirmed today. Apparently alarmed by his client's outpourings, Darren Lewis, Knight's erstwhile agent, shut down his own Twitter account today as he tried to distance himself from the player's tweets.

I wonder how we would of felt if this was Brighton (back in the bottom league) and he was trying to get out of paying us £30K, a lot of money for a small club.

I also do not understand how this works if you are sacked, is he on some form of garden leave without pay.

Look at the clubs who have given him a chance, Lee Hendrie was on the radio again the other night looking for a club, we offered him a contract, it was not to his liking and he uses the fact he is not playing as a story to try and get more money.

I like the fact Gus appears so far to ship out trouble makers and get in players who want to play regulary and at what I imagine are consistent league wages, long may this continue.

He needs to negotiate with Rushden and Diamonds in private and get playing football, to me this is all a waste of great talent and regular football may bring back some of that great former glory.

It might clarify things in R & D made some explanation of exactly why they have taken this stance. There's little doubt that LK is a pain in the arse but wouldn't they be better off letting him earn some cash so that they could sue him in order to recoup some of what they say they're owed ? Seems a very vindictive action otherwise.

Leon is getting a hard ride but wouldn't you be pissed off if your ex employers stopped you working again ?. Its not on.

The article claims Lewis is now distancing himself from Leon.

He is free to work, just not in England.

They are exercising a clause in his contract, no different from fidelity or similar clauses that many of us have.

But he owes R&D 30k. This is the sticking point. They are a bit miffed that he has not paid this back and deliberately went abroad for a couple of years so he did not have to repay it. He came back thinking he could now play again in England (hence all the recent publicity and attempts to find an English club) but discovered he could not...... This whole sorry saga look exactly like Leon Knight being Leon Knight, messing people about and getting a strop on, and blaming everyone else, when it does not go his way. It's telling that this has not happened to any other players.

Have the PFA said anything yet? I'd love to know what they're take on this is. They must have Leon on fastdial after all.

Never knew how many bitter people there were on this board, shame

Blindy - Open your eyes; as mentioned elsewhere even when he was our player and scoring goals, many of us were embarassed by his on field antics.

Please come back on NSC Leon (Knight, he's alright )

I'm sure loads of us would like to see how you're getting on.

Well look south of Non-league, and you're sure to find him
