Presumably the investigation into the mysterious "loan" from Astor will continue.

If it turns out to be fraudulent (and I'm not saying it was), I trust someone will go to prison.

considering the criminal actions of Bill Archer and his deceit, I'm guessing NO.

I'd love the FL/FA have a proscribed list of men and women who are banned from owning footie clubs. A bit like the DTI disqualified directors.

The laws on fraud and fraudulent transactions have been tightened up in the last 12 months.

Not on human rights though, the guy from Thailand who owns City has proved that and is more undesirable than Bates if 1/4 of what he is accused of is true

*cough* dodgy Russians are just as bad. Chelski, Hearts, Pompey etc etc

Still can't see the FL/FA stamping down on dodgy chairmen. Look at the impunity with which Risdale goes from club to club.

loving the fact Bates is blaiming the Inland Revenue and there quest against football. The bloke is a tit and should not be allowed to run a football club

Ken Bates shouldn't be allowed to run a bath (unless he's going to jump into it afterwards, accompanied by an electrical appliance of some kind), much less a football club.

Apparently on Thursday this week, the 71 clubs will vote on Leeds United's 15 point penalty. If you were voting on behalf of Brighton, would you vote to uphold the 15 point penalty....or reduce it...?

Would do a poll, but am incapable of organising one due to lack of any intelligence...or computer skills.

Frankly I am prepared to abide by the FA this once. It's all well and good Leeds fans blaming Bates but they were more than happy when he first went there as they thought he had the money to get them out of the mess they were in. Frabnkly did we deserve Belloti and Archer ? Did Carlisle deserve Knighton ? Did DOnny deserve their debacle ?

Get over it I say and be thankful that you still have a club to support.

I think Leeds fans would accept a 15 point deduction IF they got rid of Bates in the process, but the odious monster is still there too.

What Leeds fans must find worst of all is the equivalent of us having Ron Noades as Chairman, with Jim Cannon and Vince Hilaire as the management team.

I find it hard to understand why they are appealing. For a number of years now, they have been buying players and paying high wages, which they clearly could not afford. Therefore they should not have been in the leagues they have been.
Apart from that, I,m glad they have survived........if only for the time being.

Leicester got off very lightly, they effectively wiped out their debt and just carried on as if nothing had ever happened.

My memory is a bit vague as it is a fair few years ago, but weren't an already promoted Swindon then relegated by the league for financial mis-demeanours, so instead of going up to division one they then went down to three.

Coventry may well be right about football staring into the abyss, there are some very shady characters controlling large parts of the game (clubs at least), not certain what the future holds but I am not sure that I like it. People criticise DK for not ploughing money into the club or bringing in new investment, in the light of what is going on at the moment I would prefer that approach than some shonky foreign investor, at least we will come out smelling of roses.

I was referring to the actions of the board rather than the fans. We too had a corrupt board who fooled a few people before they found out what they were really like.

Yeah but they have a ground, and also they had good premiership and champions league times.
Not as if they clobbered huge debts with nout to show for it,these recent years have made leeds a much bigger club.:drink:
