Posted this on the "leeds update" thread 7.30.
Leeds fans are understandably happy, but seem to have forgot that Mr. Bates still owns them............bless.
Most of them seem convinced that an appeal will be successful.............bless.

Sorry shipmate, just seen your post and typed as I heard TalkSport 'breaking it' just now.

So Dirty Leeds tried to shaft the 10-point rule, eh?

No offence to the genuine fans (and The Captain knows Leeds fans contribute here) but perhaps a dose of proper hardship won't be so bad...meantime Master Bates gets the lack of a good outcome his deviance deserves.

Might have to double me whisky rations as I continue me stadium celebrations.

Isn't this a complete load of shite though?

On what rule is this 15 point penalty based upon? From the little I've read it just sounds like the FL bottling it big time.

You've got to feel sorry for the fans though, it's not there fault.

Have to admit that I do feel a bit sorry for their fans, I know a couple of Leeds fans down in this part of the World (they were evacuated here from Yorkland), they are both very nice people and do not deserve what has happened to their team.

At least they've done SOMETHING though.

For the book on "Bottling It Big Time", can I recommend "How To Run The FA Premier League And Deal Wiv Tricky Fings And Stuff" by R. Scudamore. Its going to be a MASSIVE seller this summer, believe me.

Presumably the investigation into the mysterious "loan" from Astor will continue.

If it turns out to be fraudulent (and I'm not saying it was), I trust someone will go to prison.

My only concern is that the points deduction is so large, it leaves PLENTY of room for reduction on appeal. I can easily see that 15 point deduction being whittled to 10 at worse.

Of course. A cynic would suggest that 15 was chosen to allow a retraction to 10.

With the resources at their disposal neither a 10 nor 15 point penalty is likely to mean the playoffs is out of reach.

That was my first thought immediately I heard it. Where did 15 points come from? Who dreamt that up? and based on what? It'll be this penalty worked out on the back of a fag packet that'll let Bates get off the hook.

I'm not one who hates Leeds, and I feel sorry for their fans who have had a lot to put up with, but someone somewhere someday just has to come up with a foolproof way of saying "I'm sorry Ken, but this is really it now. Please f*** off out of our lives and don't ever turn up anywhere again"

I think it is good news. But I can see their point deduction, being less than fifteen when their appeal happens. Just like the Italian scandal two years ago. When Juventus, Reggina, Fiorentina and Ac Milan got deducted points, and then successfully appealed and got less points.

I bet it gets overturned or reduced.. it's excessive and i'd imagine it'll be whacked down to 10 points

They won't get relegated. Money will appear in the transfer kitty and they have a certain pull to potential players.

That was the feeling last Season as well. :D
