Wouldn’t 9th qualify under the following circumstances:

1 [UCL] Liverpool
2 [UCL] Arsenal - UCL winners
3 [UCL] Forest
4 [UCL] City - FA Cup winners
5 [UCL] Newcastle - League Cup winners
6 [UCL] Chelsea
7 [UEL] Brighton
8 [UEL] Villa
9 [UECL] Bournemouth

Plus a 10th team in Europe - though not the team in 10th - if Utd or Spurs win the Europa League.

I'm not 100% sure, but my understanding was that we only get additional CL spots (other than the top five) if Villa win the CL and finish outside the top five, or if Spurs or United win the Europa League

I think 9th is impossible to get Europe. We could get 9 teams in Europe if spurs or Man U win the Europa but don’t think 9th place can win Europe in any way. @Joey Jo Jo Jr. Shabadoo is usually on top of these things. I make it Newcastle finish top 8 now for Europe to go to 8th as it stands. But depends on FA cup winners too.

9th in theory still could but it would take a ridiculously impossible set of results for it to happen.

Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City and Forest get top 4 and Champions League. Newcastle finish 5th and the extra CL spot (assuming England gets the likely extra spot). We finish 6th and get Europa League, Fulham finish 7th and win the FA Cup getting the Europa League spot. Man United (or Spurs) finish 8th and win the Europa League meaning they'd get a Champions League spot. If all that happens then 9th would get the Conference League spot.

In another thread there was a theory that 11th could get Europe this season but again it would take an almost impossible set of results to happen.

No because in that scenario Chelsea and Brighton would get Europa League and Villa Conference League. The only way 6th can get the Champions League spot is if whoever finishes in 5th place wins the Champions League. So swap Arsenal and Newcastle and it would work. Or Villa win the Champions League and finish 8th, in which case Chelsea and Brighton would still get Europa League, Villa would get Champions League and Bournemouth would get Conference League.

But that’s still the top nine qualifying for Europe, right?

The only upside for us would be finding out the Dan Burn sale includes significant add ons for a domestic trophy and potentially a England cap
Boat has sailed on that you’d think but I’d love to know about the Mac adds on and where we are on that. Galling to still see Pool fans cackle about the 35 million steal

For those of us living in the North East, this is a nightmare. Newcastle fans were insufferable before this, with their chip on shoulder about being 'entitled' to win a trophy because they're a massive club and it's been ages etc. They're going to be even worse now. Awful, awful, awful.
The scope for boasting must surely be limited given it's the Carabao which is hardly the Champions League.

What you might not be aware of - and it's entirely understandable as the media missed this for some reason - is that Newcastle have not won a trophy since the dinosaurs roamed the earth.

As such for the people of Newcastle, this is a highly significant event.

And for those of us living in the south we’ve luckily avoided a similar fate with Trevor and Dave in Accounts celebrating yet another massive trophy for “their club”.

We all know it's a 'lesser' Cup, but by Christ, imagine the crowing if we had won it.

Yes, but Newcastle are a bigger club than us, and they've been up there fighting for PL titles. It's good for them to have finally won something, but it's certainly nothing to gloat about for a club of their size.

Someone probably should have mentioned it on commentary.

Yep, and they should rightly celebrate. Their fans must be delighted. Maybe they can gloat to Sunderland fans, but beyond that? Nah.
