Just for simplicity.

We only need to worry about Newcastle taking a European spot off us if we finish 7th and they finish out of the top 7?

The other question. If we finish 6th and they finish 7th ..we take the Europa place and they get conference? Right?

*Taking fa cup out of equation at the moment.

If we get the extra CL spot then 6th is getting Europa League no matter what happens else where in the League, or cups.

6th could still miss out on Europe though. The extra Champions League place isn't confirmed yet, we were almost certain last season and cocked it up, although if we didn't get it this season then it would be a monumental f*** up by the remaining PL clubs in Europe. If we didn't get the extra CL spot then 5th would get Europa League, Newcastle would get Conference League and the FA Cup winners the other Europa League place.

I'm feeling strangely benevolent and happy for the Geordies this morning. I despise their Saudi links and the way the fans have embraced their new overlords, I'm constantly irritated that they are the only club allowed to bung away fans four miles from the pitch and don't like the way their fans are elevated to a higher status but I can't help but feel pleased that a different club has won a trophy and on an individual fan level that they get to enjoy a genuine wow moment. It also makes me dream of what might be one day for us....

TS and the Newcastle love in (breakfast show). Ally and Andy saying all neutrals would have wanted a Newcastle win... ..........wrong I didn't. Simon being typical Simon with his"well done Newcastle but I won't be dancing and celebrating their win from dawn till dusk like the media are doing". Also, "if someone else wins a trophy who hasn't before, will they get the media love in all day that Newcastle are getting?"🤣
If we were to win the FA Cup then I think we will especially from where we were etc etc. Simon's views (if we did win the cup) would be fair although he'd hate it for obvious reasons!🙂

I’m pleased for them, but the Toon love-in this morning has been ridiculous. Jordan called it right imo (as he often does).

Back to the match ---- as a final it was awful. Slot got well and truly Howed. They roughed them up, pressed, spoiled, moaned, niggled. I don't think there were more than 60 seconds of the ball active before a stopage, it was stop start all match. EXACTLY what Howe would have wanted.

Liverpool look knackered, and that's on the manager IMO, he's hardly rotated his midfield at all. I think they might need all of that 12 point cushion you know. Although hopefully they've just won it when they come to our place, could do with them being on the beach/pub.

Couple more showings like yesterday (and losses) that 12 point gap could be halved! They can only throw it away now and expect it to be wrapped up by time they visit us🤞

If backed by a Middle Eastern state.

Just reading about when Howe went to Newcastle and Dan Burn was one of his first buys and I remember thinking that Chris Wood was an important signing. Not just because of his goals, there weren’t that many, but because they took him away from Burnley who went down instead! Wood had a buy out clause and Newcastle had the money due to the takeover. Clever.
