It’s truly fairytale stuff to see the club with the richest owners in world football win the third biggest competition in England

Does this affect our chances of qualifying for Europe?

It's so complicated these days that I'm done trying to work it out and I'm hoping someone can answer this question for me.
Yes, negatively. If Newcastle finish below us, they will get priority over us if we end up in a position that would have qualified for Europe if one of the teams ahead of us had won this trophy.

Think it actually helps them. Newcastle get a conference league place for winning it. So even if they finish 7th or 8th it would mean the next best team gets conference league too. I think that’s right

Edit - maybe going by @Simster post above, I’m wrong. Who knows 🤷‍♂️

Newcastle deserved it. Played very well after the Liverpool goal, as much as it galls me to say it.

Two things now though, watch all the plastic Geordies come out the woodwork and Shearer is going to be f***ing unbearable as a pundit from now on.
from now on?

Nice for their fans and all, who don't seem a bad bunch on the whole, but let's not make out it's some fairytale. They've spent £400m of Saudi cash on players in the last few years...

What have the other spent though? I am only mentioning it because I read somewhere that Arsenal have spent £800m in the last few years so I’m not sure that figure is as damning as it might look.

Very surprised by the amount of people pleased with this result. It does not help our European football chances.

The FA Cup could easily be won by a non top 7 side too. Forest and Man City are the only sides who look certain to be in the top 7. Villa, Bournemouth, Fulham and Palace could all win it and finish 8th or below.

Could easily find ourselves finishing 7th with nothing to show for it.

So, are we now hoping that Newcastle get one of the CL places? They'd be fourth if they win their game in hand.

Unless Newcastle finish top five that is England's only Conference place sorted.

All true but I doubt if Newcastle will finish below 7 so that’s the consolation

Have to say, this has been a splendid season so far. Just need Albion to do something special at the end of it.

It’s just nice to see someone that’s not one of the usual suspects actually winning something.

There is still loads that can happen between now and the end of the season that will influence Europe, there’s no point in getting into specifics about who wins a final. We’ll get there under our own steam.
