Ffs bertin is so over rated.Average league 1 player at best.Dont forget Ipswich and the mighty Rotherham turned him down before he came to us.And he could not get in to the le havre team in the 2nd divison of the french league.

Except that this is the Le Havre team that totally outclassed a League 1 English team last season? The 2nd division of the French league is somewhat better than the 3rd division of the English league I think.

Let's see if he turns up on Monday before slagging him off, although it appears that Guy is possibly not too bothered about less garlic in the dressing room :D

I think it could be. ElAbd played well in a similar position earlier in the season and I thought he looked better in that role than at RB or CB (or even LB!).

For me, El-Abd has only ever looked alright at rb... definitely not a midfielder, IMHO... I would rather try Fraser there - that is his position, not out wide, or hope that Charlie gets fit...

I would say it is politeness and etiquette to inform the club that he isn't coming back.

Gotta agree with that... AND the club should have just set a deadline for his response... if they had done that a few weeks ago, we would know for sure what his decision is by now...

Albion are still in the dark over the future of Alexis Bertin.

The Seagulls have not had an answer from the French midfielder to the offer of a new contract and they are not expecting him to report back with the rest of the squad for pre-season training on Monday.

we seek him here
we seek him there
the albion seek him everywhere
is he in heaven
is he in hell
and whats that revolting garlic smell!

Race, is that you or Guy?????:D

Wilkins: "If we create a good environment where players enjoy their football then we are hoping word will get around and it becomes a big draw for players."

That, my friends is why players will sign for Wilkins, and would not for McGhee.

Exactly, we are actually signing some players from leagues above and are able to compete with other clubs. If McGhee was still here Bertin would have been at another club already.

Idiots, all those who are pretending we'd not miss Bertin.

There will not be many free agents in his class floating around as alternatives.

Also, why is everybody at all surprised that a Frenchman is RUDE?!!

Nobody actually said Oatway was the answer. The posts referring to Oatway were alluding to his form in that season and the difference he made to the team at that moment in time.

I also seem to remember Dan Harding getting an almighty slagging for signing for another club without telling us.

True, but the difference is that harding said he Would sign a new contract when he had finished his holiday, and then it went qiuet, two weeks later he was unvailed at an Elland road press conference. Bertin never said he'd stay.

You can say that again

We would miss him in a big way if we have to rely on who we have. If he doesn't sign, we must find someone else to take his place. As for players wanting to come here, it's great the DK and Dean have aknowledged this, and it can only be good for the future. With MM, I think perhaps he needed to learn a thing or two, but I can assure you players did want to play for him. There are 2 current Albion First team players who have said that if MM asked them, they would move to Motherwell, stange but true.

Thanks Phil.

The youth team are going over to Le Havre to play a match so maybe someone could find out what's going on.

Ive no doubts they would.

Mcghee didnt have a problem with hard working low talent low ego players - the sort that get you relegated, just with the ones with an ego and talet - much how you hate players like that they tend to keep you up.

Low talent? That is a slur on the players. They can't all be Spurs prem quality Kinks.

Compaired to the talet in that league they are low talent, also I would suggest the showing in the league shows they are not much better in this.
Butters, Lynch and a few others are Good enough I would say.

Oatway is surely unlikely to play a great many games. After his games at the end of last season El-Abd is surely likely to be sold on. Bertin is unlikely to stay and franly I think all the flak on here is hugely unwarranted. He is only doing what he said he would at the end of last season and who can blame a 27 year old for holding out for the best deal he can get.

It does all leave us a bit short even with Reid back so who do we sign if not Holt.....needs to be someone with experience NOT a Premiership 18/19 year old who will run out of steam by Christmas
