Oh Lammy, still out of touch and out of his depth. Cooper clearly isn't in touch either.
You don't know what your doing spring to mind.
What have they done? I do think Lammy is a bit lightweight for foreign secretary.. not a war time consigliere but then this Government doesn’t have many heavyweights- however Yvette Cooper is by far the most competent, capable and experienced member of the Government, leadership included! I remember watching her as Chair of the Home Affairs Select Committee and she was very good, she has held many jobs in Government as well as in opposition.

Lammy was out of touch when answering Richard Tice in the commons, he didn't know what was happen in Syria. He just appear a poor man's foreign secretary.

Tough crowd for Wes Streeting last evening, as seemingly he’s facing an internal Labour Party complaint following a gag he made about Louise Haigh whilst hosting The Spectator Parliamentarian of the Year Awards.

“I love Louise,” announced Wes. “In fact I’m going to call her after this on one of her phones.”

Cooper, smashing the gangs and the coppers.☹️
You're blaming Labour for a lack of funding?? Even if you 'don't do detail' you have some sort of inkling that it is not Labour that have left the country short of funds. I seem to recall you criticising their tax rises as well. You really can't have it both ways.

There are more than two ways that RBR will have it.

Home Office budget is approximately £20billion as allocated by the Chancellor - the distribution of which is allocated by the Home Secretary, so very much a Labour issue. The PCC’s that are lobbying are citing the above inflation pay rise amongst other things as cause for the expected shortfall.

I don’t expect for one minute it will cause the loss of jobs that they are claiming and i expect it is just sabre rattling- however mind boggling that it could be considered the fault of the previous government ?

Still going well I see:

  • Asylum backlog has increased since labour took over
  • 2.8% public sector pay offer decried by the Unions, BMA threatening strike action. You could give them all a 50% pay rise and they'd still strike the next year.
  • 10k civil servants face job cuts
  • £500 leather folders as standard
  • Edinburgh labour council leader under police investigation
  • Reeves says she won't be back for more tax rises. Starmer says we can't rule it out
  • Nasty Wes making jokes about Louise Haigh

What is the £500 regarding the leather folders please?

I thought Nandy was a smart cookie, why she wasted money here when four needy pensioners could have had a winter fuel payment, I really cannot fathom.
We've been through this already, maybe on the other Labour thread. It's basically nothing to do with ministers - it's the civil servants who place these orders, and they have been buying these folders for some time / years. It's likely to be put a stop to now the ministers know about it though.

At the risk of sounding condescending again - you do actually know why this has happened don't you?

I’m afraid that for many many taxpayers, tinkering around the edges on immigration etc. isn’t going to cut it these days, especially when those very same taxpayers are being rinsed through taxation and the seemingly ever increasing cost of living.

Asylum – Asylum seeker arrivals, and the costs associated with supporting them in the UK, have exceeded SR21 forecasts. As a result spending on asylum support has increased seven-fold in the last three years, with asylum and immigration resulting in a pressure of £6.4 billion in 2024-25. The Rwanda migration partnership and Illegal Migration Act would have caused these spending pressures to continue rising even faster than before.”

Let that sink in, £6.4bn. How we got here is not a party political point anymore but it is a political issue that if this Government doesn’t deal with the next Government will. Our political system may be set to avoid these from the edges but as we can see in Europe and the US politicians not seen to be dealing with immigration fairly will be out on their ear and possibly replaced with something far uglier.

How we got here IS a party political point.

The current situation for the UK is largely down to Brexit and having an Oven Ready clown in charge who thought maintaining the Dublin Agreement would be a sign of weakness on our part - that combined with our foreign policy in troubled areas of the world!

All of which @cunning fergus actively campaigned for all over NSC and voted for, but now doesn't want to talk about

Almost Faragesque

Sorry, I don't spend much time on here. It's still very wasteful let's hope labour can cut out all this waste as they are still a long way from justifying the stopping of the winter fuel payments, I fear this legacy will haunt them unfortunately.
