So is it one phone or multiple ?, do you really get a conviction for fraud for reporting a phone as being stolen and then finding it again and would a company like Aviva really report an employee to the police if it was just that ?. Truth will come out at some stage.

(Apart from anything else, that could be put down to a mistake, as long as you don't repeat it.) But if you invent a fake mugging and report it to the police, then yes, you get (or ought to get) a conviction for fraud, and for wasting police time as well (though I think she got away with that one).

One thing to learn from watching Colombo, where the murderer tells such a complicated tale that they are bound to trip up. If lying is your thing, then keep your lies simple.

I had misunderstood that part of the story. I thought the whole thing was a lie, not just the phone theft. It appears there is no doubt that she was mugged. Thanks for the heads-up.

I wonder what the views of the usual suspects on NSC are regarding the extraordinary success of the Labour Government with deportations?

Given that before the election almost anyone on this site who raised their head above the parapet on the subject was hounded back to the wordle and best song threads under accusations of xenophobia.

Now it turns out that literally the only thing the Labour Government has done successfully is deport people !

One of the main reasons- if not the main reason- for the defection of Conservative voters in the election was that the conservatives were perceived as weak on immigration.

The Labour peers repeatedly blocked all Conservative immigration legislation.

It felt like most if not all NSCers were completely against deportation- although I accept it was a very vocal few.

Now the Labour Party is the party of deportation… I wonder what the usual suspects think, because by any standards 10,000 since the election is a huge number, especially for a Government that don’t seem to be able to put one foot in front of the other.

The Illegal Migration Bill was met with criticism from Conservative peers during its second reading in the House of Lords this month.
