Nandy came out very well after the Dec 2019 electoral thrashing. Humility, honesty … in bucketloads. A social conscience without a vote-losing bitter tone (Long-Bailey) or the lectern thumping monologues in a Nuremberg stye to the converted (Corbyn).

Very much required to win ‘middle England’.

Ah, the pleasingly-sacked Wrong Bailey. Another opportunity to post this.

People are mugs.

Major was OK. His colleagues, however, were animals. ****wit brexitters like Deadwood, and chancers like Shapps. Major's demise was due to his party behaving like sixth formers at a drunken school disco, not his lack of charisma.

Brown was a great wing man but a nervous leader. His failure was nothing to do with charisma, but down to his poor judgement, stubbornness and insecurity.

Blair was a great leader, but he had empathy rather than charisma. His leadership when Diana died was exceptional. You could see he felt it. Johnson couldn't have done that; he'd have been spotted five minutes after any emoting, backstage joking with his mates about how he only wanted to shag her after she got a bit anorexic.

I watched a US doc on Amazon Prime last night about the Serbian war criminals who orchestrated the torture and murder of 100,000’s of Bosnians.

Blair was mentioned in passing.

In a nutshell, 161 of them including every leader are in prison (or died in prison) due to Blair’s determination and moral compass. He persuaded the Yanks, who were otherwise minded to call bygones.

I hadn’t realised his personal involvement.

I won’t forget that huge tick in his favour.

The man stated in Parliament that BoJo should resign purely on the accusations .

I mean, that’s not true, but you believe whatever fantasy you choose. I prefer Scarlett Johansson in mine but you do you.

Please don't do this mate

Well, he's relentlessly tedious on political threads.

But you're right. I like his football posts but I think it's time I put him on ignore. Never mind.

Sorry 'H' , I just saw the clip on the box.
It was on the accusations, please get your facts right.

Still, if we're going down the 'lying' route, was Ange there or not?

The photographs were already published before the FPN was issued so it wasn’t just on the accusations.
Lying to Parliament is also a resigning matter, although Johnson was sacked previously, by Michael Howard.

why do you need charisma to be PM?

John Major and Gordon Brown were dull as ditchwater, seems like Boris fans like him as they see charisma there, and trumps the fact he's an imbecile

People vote for politicians like Xfactor rather than ability to do the job.

For me the pointless sexing up of the WMD document when it was already legal to go to war was a mistake (but was it his or Campbell's?). But it was something that angered the hard left, and it was a mendacious element of the right that stoked the flames, even though they (indeed any party) would have supported Bush. Only Corbyn, among modern British leaders, was against. That says it all really.

Blair has also made a massive load of cash on the back of his cachet. Meanwhile, Cameron, who has attempted the same, receives no criticism. I thought that making money was not only legitimate but the responsible thing to do

I am convinced that most of the Blair hatred comes from the hard left and, as is typical with the hard left, they are simply being run as lackies for the right by doing so. (If I were a committed tory I would perhaps wish to see the Blair reputation tarnished, so it is mainly the cut and thrust of politics I guess). I remember one of my brothers, the lefty, claiming he would rather vote tory than Blair. Ok.....mate

It is nice to see that Blair has done some other decent things, though, and without doing so to steal fame and kudos. A hard concept with which to grapple in todays era.

Based on your (comically over the top) "beliefs" when I insulted Diane Abbott, how do you feel about the erstwhile HWT calling her a "witch"? I must've missed your indignant reply.

Isn't the context of this though that Boris was saying there wasn't a gathering, before photos came out of him at gatherings....and videos of his colleagues laughing about the parties they had. By the time the investigations were launched, we already had seen he had lied on several fronts.

Whereas Starmer has never denied he was at an office and had a beer.

Absolutely. In my eyes at least it's a whole different ball game.

These goons still don't get it, do they?

It's not about breaking the law, technically or otherwise, or not. It's the lying, obfuscation, lack of shame, taking the electorate for fools and all round shitehouseness of Johnson's antics.

Dan Hodges isn't very "Daily Mail" though, he's just a professional contrarian who sometimes takes some very very random positions.

Not dissimilar to Peter Hitchens who is equally unpredictable.

That's columnists for you. Each to their own, but I'd rather read the work of a journalist.

Exactly - he's not saying just because Johnson was being investigated that he should resign. He's saying he should resign because of the 'months of denials' which have now proven to be false denials (even if Johnson hadn't been fined, he was lying by denying that these events had even taken place).

As you say - Starmer has always said that the event happened, he was there, and had food/beer - but that it was a work event.
