I still find 150K a week very hard to believe for a player that attracted the highest transfer fee paid in Premier League history and had another massive club trying to sign him in the same window.

Not when you factor in he was signed on an 8 (eight!) year contract and there’s been no disclosure on what bonuses he might get.

I wonder if we put the feelers out about KDH again in the summer, to put Chelsea and others off the scent of our real target, O'Riley? Weren't we the only one to show interest? I know it's early doors, but he does come across as one of the most level headed, intelligent footballers I've heard for a long time.

"Low" is of course a relative term, and compares only to the £300,000+ per week they were paying other players in the past (and probably still are in the case of Lukaku).

Their wage bill will still be substantially higher on average than pretty much every club outside of Liverpool, City, United and Arsenal,one would think.

Sure, but the common misconception is that Chelsea still pay crazy-high wages to lure players - when actually it's just silly transfer fees and, er, very long contracts.

I guess the bonus-heavy contracts keeps players hungry for game time. Must doubly piss-off players like KDH who don't get minutes though.
