How many over 21s do they have out on loan though, are they getting near to their quota (Stirling, Kepa off the top of my head)?

Kepa, Petrovic, Chalobah, Broja, Fofana and Sterling. I'm pretty certain that as Broja and Chalobah are club trained players they don't count towards the number of over 21s you can loan out. If that is correct then they've still got a couple of loans allowed, if not they are currently at the limit of 6.

Yup. Gomez seems a similar player but perhaps bigger and stronger.

As far as career decisions go, best for him to have a look at the journey of a certain Alex Pritchard.
As bad as decision for his playing time financially he’s laughing on £100k a week for 8 years if he decides to just sit back and take the money.

It’s the worst possible situation football wise for the lad. Wages etc will f*** him up now on the field. He’ll be rich but unfulfilled I reckon.
It's a really odd one (one of MANY, especially at Chelsea, I might add) because there's nothing to stop him just carrying on doing what he's doing and taking the money, but Chelsea want rid of him too. So I guess it's a case of who blinks first – assuming no-one matches the deal he's got now. Chelsea would be better off giving him a pay-off, to stave off a situation where he refuses to move (which he's perfectly entitled to do) and just takes the money.

If that IS what he wants, then it all comes down to mentality, or having the belief that a new manager (or something) means you're in the main squad (sort of (a bit) like what happened to Maguire at Manchester United). Eight years is a LONG time to stick it out though...

Not a tough one is it....... move to a 3 or 4 year contract on half the wage?

Or stay put and earn a cool £40m for sitting on your arse and keeping a bench warm for 8 years.

Isn't any bench I wouldn't gladly sit on, a few hours a week for 40m!

Trouble is, we're talking about professional sportspeople who have given their life to being the best they cab be. Not to mention the massive ego that typically comes with that.

Being on the bench won't cut it for a lot of players - it's not like a 'normal' job where you'd be perfectly happy doing next to naff all.

I actually feel for the guy in some ways. Chelsea clearly don't give a shit about him or his career, even though they tied him to a massive contract.

Twats.
