A "God. I can't believe the club were so unprepared. Mitoma is out now and we are short!"
B "well, actually we have all of these players who can play there"
A "Yeah, but they aren't as good as Mitoma!"
B "So your issue is that we didn't have a queue of wingers in the squad, as good as arguably one of the best wingers in the entire PL who could be sold for a mini fortune?"
A" Exactly"

Unfortunate or a little naive?

Injuries at this stage of the season, especially when competing on three fronts are sadly inevitable.

Throw in the fact we had Mitoma & Adringra competing at international tournaments amidst that & Enciso returning from a really nasty injury, it seemed obvious that we'd likely need an extra body or two in the frontline for the run-in.
To a certain extent possibly, I don't think its overly naïve to go into the second half of the season with 6 options on the wing. I think something may be needed to looked at as to why Mitoma, played at the Asia Cup and why he continued to play if he had a back injury. I don't think we were that light on numbers, the problem with Mitoma is he does something no one else does. Its a shame but we will have to cope on that front and ultimately some players who have been arguably underwhelming this season like Fati will need to step up. The striker situation is a farce but that has been the case for a few years now clearly, Welbeck for however good he is, is so injury prone and a 19 Y/o is going to be inconsistent, but every window that never changes.

Sarmiento scored the winner for Ipswich the other day, but we were told in January not needed because our players would be back from injury soon

Breaking news. Football squad suffers some injuries.

I've had a look historically and, get this, we have suffered AT LEAST one player injury EVERY SEASON in our history.

It's a staggering stat, I'm sure you'll agree. We just have no luck in this area. PANIC.

Calm down dear.
All i said was that 3 season ending injuries wasn't in the plan.

I think Mitoma and Pedro are our best forward players. I’m not sure we have much of a chance of silverware without them. At least Pedro is back but those folk who have a Dublin booking might want to cancel asap.
When is Pedro back?

whats the prognosis and time frame?

That’s why I don’t get paid the big money , surley the datebase the club has there must of been others in the radar
My point being is I don't think wasting time on KDH was what was integral. I think it was a lack of good deals, plus possibly a hole in the database, also the fact that our £20m DM signing is still 'not ready'.

We should have strengthened further in January, I’m sure the club did try but for whatever reason we couldn’t get it done. We are now short.

Let’s really hope that Man City win tonight so that even if we lose tomorrow (which I hope we don’t) then we have a two and half week break between the Roma game and the Liverpool game as weekend of the 17th will be free.

I think you're being a bit contrary here - the run of injuries in one particular position, winger, doesn't happen every season

Maybe, just maybe, they weren't available. Or (it's a long shot) possibly the selling club (or the player) wanted too much. Or even (impossible though it might seem) the player didn't want to come here.....

Can Barco play on the wing if needed? Might he be rushed into the team a bit quicker?

How many wingers do we have out? Looks to me like we've managed to field them every game.
I assume you're counting Buonanotte as a winger then when he patently doesn't really have the speed for that position and rarely excels while playing there. Or perhaps you mean that time we played Milner there. Regardless, we've been hit very badly in that position and to pretend otherwise really is quite something.
