Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi on their injury issues: "I'm not frustrated, this can happen in football. The situation has not changed from September until now. We work with enthusiasm and pride, and try to transform problems into opportunities. If you ask me what is the target, it is to compete. We don't worry, because tomorrow we fight to try to win the game."

Sounds just like Klopp!
Sounds a lot more positive than a month ago!

A total shambles. Who authorised him to play at Sheffield since the injury was flagged before this match - and then hasn’t trained ever since.

He has to play baleba, moder more. So, goes the same for BBB who looks quite good.

Knew fully what your saying mate , just in shock we lost him for the season, im a happy clapper so I fully trust bloom and rdz, you going tomorrow?
Of course. This probably the 20th time this season we have had an injury that has meant we aren't gonna get europe again, or De Zerbi is leaving, Mitoma is off, Bottled something else. We're still 7th, we are coping unbelievably well, I back them. It would of been nice if we signed another winger in january but we didn't think people need to have a beer and not worry too much (y).

I'm not disagreeing with you, but Adingra was our March right wing back-up at the beginning of the season with Fati being brought in as back-up/compeittion/rotation for Mitoma on the left.

We've been ridiculously unlucky.
That was indeed the point I was initially seeking to make, that the run of injuries in this one position of winger was not an "every season" thing, it's truly exceptional. But the bad luck was a known factor as we headed into the Jan window

Can the toll of injuries be in anyway attributed to 6 additional games (so far)?

I mentioned this on nsc a few weeks ago and someone tried to shout me down with “it’s only 6”.
I haven't plotted this, but it feels like RDZ was rotating a LOT early season even before the injury plague hit us.

As such it doesn't feel like our players should have been over-loaded because we were trying to guard against that very eventuality.

Can I blame Mason Holgate for this???
I was wondering if there’s any link to this - obvs it’s his thigh but all things connected etc etc…?

Don't forget the US tour in the summer. All professional athletes are supposed to have time off to heal from the demands of the season.

No doubt we'll arrange another one this summer to mess the following season up.

The dull part of the south coast
We should have strengthened further in January, I’m sure the club did try but for whatever reason we couldn’t get it done. We are now short.

Let’s really hope that Man City win tonight so that even if we lose tomorrow (which I hope we don’t) then we have a two and half week break between the Roma game and the Liverpool game as weekend of the 17th will be free.
Strengthened what and where? FFS! The world and his wife were moaning about us not having a left back now it’s a case of not having any wide forward players. Injuries to players happen, you can’t predict when or how serious the injury might be. That’s football and unfortunately for us we have to cope with it. Had we not had any injury problems recently would you have still had the opinion that we should have strengthened further in January?

Starting a revolution from my bed
A "God. I can't believe the club were so unprepared. Mitoma is out now and we are short!"
B "well, actually we have all of these players who can play there"
A "Yeah, but they aren't as good as Mitoma!"
B "So your issue is that we didn't have a queue of wingers in the squad, as good as arguably one of the best wingers in the entire PL who could be sold for a mini fortune?"
A" Exactly"
How many naturally left footed wingers have we had since March got injured?

Yeh, the rotation was in part a plan to reduce the number of injuries we'd get at the back of the season.

It should have been a good plan. But luck deserted us

I'm assuming by your question, none?

I don't understand the reason for the question though...

Mitoma is right footed (unless I've completely misread his style) so his injury doesn't change that

Wouldn't it be cheaper to use the forewarning to prevent the injury from happening?
Or would that break causality leading to the destruction of the entire universe? I can see why we might invest more in cover for wingers rather than going down that route.
We’re all doomed Captain Mainwaring!

It does seem a bit odd if he felt something in his back pre Sheff Utd to then play him for 76minutes ?

Your continued insistence that this isn't a blow comes across as quite "Lieutenant George".

I mean, I suppose I admire your positivity. :)
