This sort of news really awakens the cretins doesn't it? The sort who are just waiting in the shadows, biding their time before they can leap into action and have a good old moan and pile on.

Our squad is staggeringly good for our place in the world, we've just been unlucky.

Get well soon Kaoru.

Until now this was a civil and well reasoned debate.

So what you're saying is.......................... right footed Adingra can now play on the left where Mitoma(right footed) was

But we would need a left footer to play on the right where Adingra (right footed) was.

Why's that then? Why suddenly is the lack of left footer a problem when you were OK with 2 right footers before.....

De Zerbi players his wingers on the opposite side to their strong foot.

Adingra does a job on the right because he’s OK with his left, but it is not his natural position and he isn’t as effective there. He’s far stronger playing wide left. If March was fit, he’d likely be playing second fiddle to him and Mitoma.

Myself and others pointed out that with March injured, it would be good to sign a naturally left footed player to play RW, so that Adingra could be rotated from there to play LW occasionally to give Mitoma a rest.

Now Mitoma is injured and we have no natural alternative to play RW, Adingra will not be able to play in his preferred position of LW as he will have to stay RW.

Surely you can see this injury, combined with not signing a left footed winger, impacts how Adingra will have to be used for the rest of the season?

It’s not suddenly a problem and was pointed out that going into the second half of the season that this was an issue.

I don't believe the club can be held culpable for failing to recruit. They knew we needed another winger and tried to get Osman in.

Where I think we cocked up was letting Sarmiento go. Recruiting players is not always in your control, injuries are not in your control. But here we had a young player, a specialist winger who has done well for us. Retaining him was in our control. My guess is that there was some sort of clash with RDZ

I reject the notion that he wouldn't have played had we not been hit. We rotate our team and he wouldn't have been rotated in and out just like everyone else. We knew at the start of January, we would have European games and maybe a cup run. We knew we would have a large number of fixtures. He'd have been in the side all January, when we were trying to get away with playing Milner on the wing, he'd have been a great option all through the time when Enciso and Fati were recovering.

We're now in a situation where we have 2 games a week, for the forseeable. We will undoubtedly get further injuries. We now have a massive liability on anything happening to Adingra. Lot's of players can "fill in" on the wing, but nobody with the sort of pace to get PL full backs worried.

That is pretty devastating. We can look a bit toothless without him as evidenced on Saturday - he is the difference maker for us.

Just hoping this is one of De Zerbi’s rash press conference statements - he’s done it a few times.

Or he never gets regular game time, and he never develops, he had a season of that last year. If he stayed he stagnates, we have another prospect BBB or Peupion available for that, gives them an opportunity. If we are going to get a player out of Jeremy a good loan in the second half of the season is integral.

If Mitoma is out for the rest of the season then it's probable we won't see him in a Blue and White striped shirt again.

Our prolonged injury problems over the past seasons really need a good looking at - there has to be a reason for so many of the players being out long term. Depressing.

Peupion could barely get a game for Cheltenham

BBB might come to something, but he's years behind Sarmiento.

And even if we accept your argument that the development of one player might have been stunted, (which I don't because he would have played through January and Feb and would almost certainly be starting tomorrow and would have highly likely been used off the bench thus far) .... i'm not prepared to smoke off a season for that one persons development. The club is more important and we have a golden opportunity to do something in Europe and maybe win some major silverware for the first time ever. If we don't run a player or two over now, when do we?

Every season we run out of steam because we run out of players.

Strengthened what and where? FFS! The world and his wife were moaning about us not having a left back now it’s a case of not having any wide forward players. Injuries to players happen, you can’t predict when or how serious the injury might be. That’s football and unfortunately for us we have to cope with it. Had we not had any injury problems recently would you have still had the opinion that we should have strengthened further in January?
Yes I would as I have said multiple times on multiple threads.

We knew March was out for the season from October. We knew Mitoma and Adingra were going to be away on international duty and that Ensico wouldn’t be fit till around now.

The club clearly recognised this hence trying to sign Osman and Gill. The club failed to do that. Grow up for goodness sake, it’s okay to admit the club are not perfect in every way.

Also we were clearly looking at centre midfield and failed to secure a target and now we are down to two fully fit centre midfielders. It’s just poor planning.

Injuries and suspensions can’t be predicted but they can be anticipated, if for no other reason than looking at what’s happened up till now this season.

1. As a positive person I hope this presents Valentin Barco with his opportunity and he'll take it with both hands.

2. I also hope the injury will reduce the chances of Karou leaving over the summer.

3. At least we have Enciso and Fati back.

With Mitoma injured we are much more likely to see Andingra on his more favoured left hand side. He started there on Saturday against Everton, with Facundo on the right and only moved over to the right when Fati came on in the second half. Assuming Fati still isn't fit to start you've got to think that will be RDZ's favoured set up at the moment.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but Adingra was our March right wing back-up at the beginning of the season with Fati being brought in as back-up/compeittion/rotation for Mitoma on the left.

We've been ridiculously unlucky.
What we REALLY needed was backups to the backup backups. And a crystal ball obvs.

Oh :dunce:

You agree with calling disappointed fans cretins? Wow

At the end of the day if we smoke off the season because of Mitoma’s injury it’s down to one player and one player only that’s Mitoma. Sarmiento isn‘t anywhere near his level. Losing Mitoma is gutting and could be integral to the season, but if he is, then having Sarmiento (who is an a average championship player on current showing) wouldn’t have made much difference.

Peupion didn’t get a chance at Cheltenham for reasons out of his control.
