Adams, at present, and as per his prerogative, prefers the partnership of Elphick and Hawkins, and it's one which usually works well. Seeing as there are only two berths at centre-back, someone has to give way. For now, it's Lynch.

I really hope that that is not the actual or only reason for Joel Lynch wanting out, because that would be pathetic and unnecessary. Adams and the board have already turned down one transfer request, implying that Lynch does feature in his future plans. Lynch has still got a lot to learn about his trade.

What this also does do is, because Lynch has now repeated his request, it's going to make it even harder for Adams to pick him, thereby making him less attractive in the marketplace. In other words, who wants to pick a player that doesn't want to play for you?

I have no idea about the notion of whether he thinks he is a better player than he actually is - I've never asked him, nor looked inside his head, though some on here think he does carry this attitude with him. I really hope he doesn't. Confidence is one thing. Mis-placed arrogance is another.

If lynch wants out then let him go, no point in hanging onto a player that obviously wants to leave as he wont be trying 100% everytime he's out on the field.

Did he put in the verbal transfer request before or after he discovered El'Abd was playing at center back against Walsall? I think most assumed he would be playing with Hawkins out, so he would get a chance to show what he could do, but if Adams told him he was out of the squad, I'm not surprised if the then made his request.

Promising?? Ffs, if he hasn't fulfilled any perceived potential by now, he ain't going to turn into a world-beater in a year or two!

"Promising", is what you want from a 15 year old, not 20+.

Not for a centre back.

Decent centre backs should not have been expected to fulfil potential at the ripe old age of 20, that's just stupid. With the right training Lynch could and probably will turn into a very good player.

Adams said he dropped Lynch because he handed in a verbal transfer request that followed up his written one.

Lynch has had loads of disciplinaries with the managers in his few years as a pro, maybe he needs to look at himself before having a go at others, because he is clearly a massive assest to the club and a great player when he concentrates.

If Hinshlewood makes a full recovery, I am not too worried about getting rid of Lynch, but he should be playing maybe, but why he chose to say he wants out when a blatant chance to get in the team has come up is beyond me

When an ex player, who was himself frozen out when he was obviously better than the players occupying his position, suggests Lynch should knuckle down and get on with getting his place back, it's hard to argue isn't it?

I think Guy's comments are very significant and based on what he has seen over a period of time. Some of you should read them again.

I also felt that last season, under Wilkins, Joel was poor compared with the flashes of potential he showed earlier. I wouldn't blame that on Wilkins at all.

I don't think the manager - whoever it was/is - is the problem, it seems Joel has an attitude problem and that is very sad.

*sniff* I smell another dressing room meltdown...

Unfortunately we will never keep hold of our talent whan they know, or think they know, they can play at a higher level for more dough. The minute the Manager tries to instill some discipline by punishing transgressions with restricted opportunities on the pitch the decent players will think "I'm off then"..Its a risky strategy and can backfire (Knight, Savage) but simularly can work a dream (CKR). My feeling on this is that Lynch is already out the door and past the Patcham roundabout and not much we can do about it except play him and hope his professional pride means something to him.

Cox was pulling this sort of shit last year and seems to have sorted his head out now.

i thought it was meant to be wilkins with the "poor man management"?

and good tactics from adams to tell any possible club who could be after him that he isn't wanted here and he doesn't want to be here.

Who says it has anything to do with poor man management?

Read the comments from somebody who knows Lynch and worked with him. I suspect he has a lot more insight to Lynch and his attitude than you or I do. Also read the comment made by a scout from Wolves. All point to somebody who has got his break with The Albion and now thinks he is too big to stay. If that's his attitude we are well shot of him.

well by the sounds of it, he hasn't exactly been persuaded to stay and sort his attitude out..

Interesting twist here. Lynch ruled himself out?

Lynch snubbed Albion recall (From The Argus)

JOEL Lynch ruled himself out of Albion's home defeat by depleted Walsall on Saturday, after being told he would be playing.

The want-away defender had been lined up by boss Micky Adams to make his first league start of the season, with Colin Hawkins bound for Germany for hernia surgery.

Adams said: "I can only give the facts as they are. Last Saturday (September 13) I told Joel Lynch he was going to play against Walsall.

"Then, on the Monday, he said he wasn't in the right frame of mind, so what can I do? I had to rule him out."

I can see Lynch becoming another CKR - leaves the club because of shit man management and goes on to much bigger and better things

No, can't be that mate, we've sorted out the problem of "shit man-management" with our managerial change in the summer.

That just doesn't make sense to me. Why, when he clearly has a chance of a run in the side ahead of him would he say "Naaah, I don't think so actually."

That isn't the full story, it can't be.

Presumably he's not on high wages and he has a long contract. Give him the option of pulling his finger out or spending a season in the stiffs...and stick to it. Either he'll knuckle down or we can get shot next season if he doesn't. Too many prima donnas around who seem to believe they can get away with behaving like spoilt kids

So you're calling Micky Adams a liar?

Mickey Adams, whatever my feelings about his managerial talents, is most certainly not anything but straight up imo.
