Would be a real shame if we sell him.

I personally think he is fantastic, I'm not a huge fan of Richards and think Lynch could do a job on the left. He has pace, he's quicker on the ball then many of our players and has vision.

Well said young'un.

I know we're a selling club and all, but looking over various transfers, I would say he is a better player (including his potential) then Virgo was when he was sold...I know 1.5 million was a remarkable figure but as I say, I think Lynch is equal to, if not better then that...

(Zebedee, just noticed you sit in G block, row and seat?)

Completely agree. If Lynch isn't given a chance at centre back or left back this year then it is criminal. I wasn't pleased to see Livermore play at left back against Bristol Rovers. Cannot have given Lynch a lot of hope...

If I was Lynch I would feel fairly hard done by, what's he done wrong?

Throughout pre-season (from what I saw) he was working hard, and, dare I say it, covered for Tommy Elphick mistakes more then once. He doesn't appear to have demanded to play in a certain position, has not grumbled publicly. I appreciate we need a blend between youth and experience, but that isn't to say that we should waste good young talent.

Selling Lynch would be criminal. That would leave us just with El-Abd.Don't want to pull Virgo out of midfield just yet and Hinsh is a complete sicknote. We need him.

I agree with what you say but, on the whole our defence has played pretty well so far. If we had been leaking goals I would be pressing more change more urgently, but think Elphick and Hawk are looking solid. Think his best chance of getting in the team is at LB, but whether he deserves it or not, I cant see MA putting him in for Richards.

True, I see that. But surely we want to be pro-active not reactive and not have to wait till goals do get leaked? I do worry about Richards, I think he (and others) can be fairly slow on the ball and this puts us in dangerous situations, Lynch is the perfect antidote.

Vulture, a little tip, I wouldn't go talking about 16 year olds genitals too much, might give off the wrong impression, in more then one way ;)

No, but why change if its working fine. I like Richards, but would prefer Lynch when up against more physical oppo, maybe someone like Leeds who have tall, boisterous strikers like Beckford and Showumni.

For the time being nothing should be changed. Rule number 1 : Do not change a winning formula. However next opportunity such as when Richards went to left wing, Lynch needs to be played. He needs to get a chance to prove that he is the best and should be starting week in week out..

With the number of defenders we have someone is going to be upset over not playing. At present it would be hard to argue for a change to the current back four but if things drop off I have no doubt Lynch will be given his chance.

Whether or not he is prepared to wait for that chance is a matter between Joel Lynch and the club. Of course we would all want to keep Lynch but if he wants to go and clubs are offering the sums suggested then for me its a no brainer.

Has everyone forgotten the Mansfield game when he played LB?

It wasn't long ago everyone was saying we need a LB as Joel can't play there.

He is an excellent player and as MA said it is a squad and some players will have to be patient and wait their turn. If Joel can't do that and he wants out and a club is prepared to pay for him ( decent sum) no probs as we are hardly short in that area.

shame though

A thought has just crossed my mind was Joel on the bench on Friday? If so was he one of the subs that joined in the celebrations when Murray scored, this may give some indications as to his feelings for the team/club/squad. When watching it on SSN I remember a number of subs joined in but have now deleted it from sky+ so cannot watch again.

is it just me or is hawkins not actually very dominant in the air, and not as strong as he would seem to be?

just noticed against southend and bristol he was losing out on headers and being pushed about a bit
