Can't believe there is any truth in the forest part of the story, or at least the fee part.

Joel is a good player, but if we recieved an offer of that value for him would be stupid to turn it down. Especially if the funds could be used to strengthen the team in other areas.

Ok, so Hawkins is actually rubbish but EVERYONE else hasn't seen it yet?

I didn't say he was rubbish, but he's VASTLY inferior to Lynch and Elphick in EVERYTHING except for experience.

The fact that nobody's noticed I can only assume is because he was ok against Crewe (apart from being caught out of position with Elphick for the goal) and Barnet didn't test him. He cost us a point against Bristol Rovers and was far from impressive on Friday night.

You called him a 'lumbering idiot'. Is that any different?

He played like one on Friday.

He's alright, good back-up (although not sure where that leave El-Abd).

However, if we're sacrificing a young, talented prospect for an immobile centre half then we're bloody stupid.

Anyway, shoot me down if you like, but am I ever so slightly correct in predicting a bit of WIND-UP in this? Afterall you've slagged off the two players many would rate among our best this season (Forster and Colin).

If there was a shotgun smiley i'd be using it. The fact that I decided to pick on Forster after 20 minutes at Worthing would suggest I was on a wind-up. He's scored four in four, he's clearly a class act, as he was last season (until he tired).

My view of Hawkins as 'alright, but nothing special' is based on four games so far - one fairly decent at Crewe (but not amazing), one game against Barnet where he had nothing to do, one game at Bristol where he cost us a goal, and one game at Southend where he made at least two mistakes and wasn't particularly impressive.

I would agree with that. I think that he will benefit by playing the odd game alongside of Hawkins as Cullip did alongside of Simon Morgan and perhaps come into his own if anybody comes in for the man who is considered wonder boy on here Tommy Elphick. Whom I think is very good but has his limitations, like his distribution.

I think you're being bloody harsh about the guy - to say the least. He's done a damn good job overall, IMO, & I reckon your criticism of him could easily be applied to several of our players. Two mistakes at Southend? Obviously total SHITE then.. :thud:

Does "alright, but nothing special" translate as "total SHITE"?

No.

But he HAS cost us 2 points this season, you can't apply that to several of our players.

The same player who had a 'superb' shocker on Friday, whos shit backpass almost cost us a goal, who also went missing and had Elphick save his (and Michel's) bacon on the goal line, and the same player who would struggle to outrun me in a race.

No, that was a typing error. Elphick is quality.

Next you'll be telling us Revell is better than Murray. Save it football pundit.
