I see James Mclean is quite happy to take the big money paid by his English employers so isn't anti-British / anti-English in that regard.

Most of the Germans army were just following orders without being aware of the bigger picture

You should look up "The Wehrmacht" series on Military History. There was a lot of goings on, especially on the Eastern Front, that was nothing to do with the SS.

Many Wehrmacht soldiers committed war crimes against the slavs and the Russians. It was widespread and well documented in diaries and official divisional documents but largely hidden or forgotten about post war when there was no stomach for more trials and finger pointing.

Its only recently that Germany does commemorate their fallen. For many years Veterans were too ashamed of their part in Hitlers War to do so,There are now rememberance services across Germany for their young men sacrificed. Quite right too. Theyre not celebrating the Third Reich, their just honouring individuals who were killed.

I disagree, this wasn't a personal choice where he buys a poppy at the local supermarket, this was the English Premier League, lending its support to those that have fallen in the many conflicts and he enjoys many privileges playing within it.

He could of actually worn one without contradicting his prejudices, but he chose not to.

Just dont trip over yourselves with your understanding of the troubles, history and your uber tolerances.

He is just a lucky lad that doesn't like the English, he'll take your money and your applause, but deep down he resents us and what we stand for, so personally I think he is a pratt.

It was a personal choice. Which he made.

He couldn't have worn one without contradicting his principles if the poppy represents army members who died in a cause he didn't believe in and actively opposed.

He's a prat because he resents what we stand for? Apart from that the sheer arrogance of that statement, I think it's much more principled than that.

Brighton - In your face
No it's not at all, one is a cause you'll trip yourself over in your rush to support , the other is one you're indifferent to, I happen to believe that racism in football has been al but eradicated, and that the kick it out campaign is nothing more than an excercise in jobs for second rate footballers, were I a foootballer would you respect my decision not to wear a t-shirt that I saw as irrelevant and pointless ?

Well it is different as Anti-racism isn't a charity, but it looks like we disagree on the matter. You buy and wear the poppy for the charity, you're silent out of respect for others for the rememberence. If he was signing 'I hate the British' throughout the silence as it then might fall into both arguements.

Wearing the shirt with the embossed poppy was far more collective than personal, he could of worn it without contradiction, but his bigotry cannot get pass the English element.

Yes you can see a principled man, I see a first class pratt, if some drunken football fans sing '10 German bombers' on the steps of some obscure German building they are pratts too, what do you see ??

I see prats too. But that comparison was ridiculous. McClean wasn't drunk and has consistently made his republican views clear. The truth is you just think he's a prat because you don't agree with him.

I think he is a pratt because he comes to ply his trade here and then insults much of the population, do I lose sleep no, do I care for his story, no.

He is a bigot, I have been to NI and its a good place to find one, quite frankly they can keep there spiteful little views to themselves.

If they wish to come and live and work here and lets face it he is very privileged, then just finding the good grace to accept an important symbol of his host nation, thats all.
