I imagine a few NSCers/social media guys will disagree, but I’d have him starting ahead of Gilmour.

Gilmour is a better passer and more cultured, but not by enough to excuse his physical limitations.
One thing he will need to improve is how to receive a fast paced ball (typically from Dunk) while being closely marked. That said, we hardly attempted any such balls yesterday till Welbz came on. Almost everything was going out on the wings. That said, this may be more about the newness of JM in the starting line up. He has been a full international for years and it would be great for the team if he builds on his steady return.

I agree. He adds a physicality in the midfield we sorely lack, as does Baleba, which is a big area I think won us the game against Nottingham Forest.

That said, I haven’t seen that much from him to justify any sort of hype that he can become a top player for us.

Shirley the point has to be 'nobody has seen much from him'.

I hear you, and I was impressed by his performance - but I saw quite a bit of him under Potter and he was okay, nothing more. Albeit he did play out of position often.

Thought Moder was up for MoM until his tackle and think that was tiredness. What's that his second start (the other in the cup)? He is not Gross or Baleba or even Gilmour but could he be. Simple fact is Gross is not getting younger whilst time is on Moder's side.... he's still 24 (just found out he's got the same birthday as me!!!). he can pass and he can tackle, he's strong and can head. The question is can we develop him to fit in De Zerbi's team and then is De Zerbi can be around in the future, Who's going to be here longer, Moder or DZ? If Baleba isn't playing I would rather have Moder than Gilmour in that position because you need one power player in midfield. After Baleba he's the next closest to Caicedo / Bissouma. I think Moder needs a full season before we write him off. Look again in a year.

Like others, thought he was brilliant until he started to tire. If he can stay injury free and have a proper pre-season I reckon he could become increasingly important for us next season.

The fact we’re seeing him at all this season is just a bonus.

Moder has done enough to get some very decent chunks of game time before the end of the season

The way I read that tackle ... on some level he was basically saying "look national manager ... i'm fit ... i'm over the injury... look I can fly in and win 50/50's ... pick me for the play off squad ... i'm desperate for the euros".

If you think about it, it's totally out of character for the lad. He's never once dived in like that before last weekend.

As for us, he's playing for a new contract isn't he? He's presumably on a "unproven 21 year old from foreign league trying to make it in PL type deal" What he wants, from us or someone else is a "Proven PL midfielder, proven international, mid career level deal". Not saying what he's on is buttons, but I bet he'll be wanting to show for the rest of the season he's worth much, much more.

Agree - 'I'm confident enough in my recovery to fly into a tackle as if nothing ever happened'. He knows he got away with one (watching his interview) and I doubt he'll make the same mistake again but it's a brilliant sign of the confidence he must have in his physical condition. Thought he was excellent on Sunday - he's well capable of the receive/hold/turn/rapid-passing midfield action that De Zerbi loves in his CMs.

I have very high hopes on Moder. As opposed to the majority of our midfielders he's also a quality finisher, which will be a nice change.

I know the stats might not support me there. But remember the last games before he got injured (at the time when it was a wonder they bothered placing two goals on the pitch, as if the Albion would score anyway). He was the only one who actually kept his shots on target, and was extremely unlucky time and time again. If the goalies hadn't pulled off worldie after worldie, he'd had at least five goals in those last few games.

I for one am really looking forward to Moder and Hinshelwood not only bossing the midfield, but also chipping in with goals over the next few seasons.

Haha, yes, let's just say I'm focusing on the stats to come. I really hope RDZ can give him the Solly treatment, get some confidence pumping in those veins, and then we'll have a very handsome all-round player on our hands.
I think you're right. Goals should be round the corner for him. He finds good positions. I reckon he just needs to channel some of that aggression we saw on Saturday into his ball striking

The Poles announced a 26-man squad for this international break. The matchday squad for the Wales game tonight (limited to 23 players) was announced by Poland yesterday [I didn't notice it at the time] and didn't include Moder.

Let's hope that it was maybe the head coach's plan all along to not include Moder for this game (unless he was outstanding in training and/or the Estonia game) rather than any injury issue (of which there is zero evidence, at this point).

Could also be that as the club have been carefully managing his game time, they agreed that he would only play in one of the games.

My Polish mate is saying the coach prefers Symanski (no idea how to spell it) and no new injury
