Once the land is sold its nigh on impossible to get a covenant placed on it. A judicial review would have been held and would have incurred costs for the council and likely compensation toward club and developers.Sorry old boy, these fuckers thrive on fast footwork, the late, much missed Barry Lloyd told me the 'ring fencing' was doable right up until after the last game at the Goldstone in April 1997, even stopping the bulldozers as late as the night before in the June.
They just chose not to, for whatever reason.........
They would have had to explain why it wasn't deemed necessary at planning application stage in 1992 /3
