Is the stadium heading for big problems

On a Saturday game I always stay for an hour or two and I am fine with that. But many are dying to get away, however the Amex does have some unique transport challenges compared to most large events

But look around at any big game and people are streaming out with 15 mins remaining. At Lords/Oval its the same people leave well before the end. If the time saved is so important to them sobeit.

sort out the path on the falmer/woodingdean road - little cost and would improve speed and safety. people walking down the road is sure to end in tears eventually.

I can hear it now, they build a path, then a bus shelter, then an extra layby, then another bus shelter, then an new slip road,a small building, then another set of streetlamps & so on,within 15 years the southdowns will be fully developed between Woodingdean and Falmer.

Your right though.

That indeed is true. Not really my main point though. It's more about how we are going to cope with increased traffic and train congestion along side our own trains/buses for match day and how Falmer Stn in particular will cope with it

In the year and a bit we've been at The Amex, I've used both train and car. I can honestly say, I've never had a problem or been unduly delayed after any game, both on a Saturday or midweek. Today was the usual stroll out the North Stand at full time, over the bridge & onto the usual 17.01 eastbound train.

People who think they are being horrendously delayed post match should try the like of Upton Park or The Emirates for example. The queue at Falmer is nothing compared to Upton Park or Holloway Road.

I read all the horror stories of delays on here and wonder where I am going wrong?........

there is already a path there - just not a very good one. the road isn't wide enough for people to walk down

Don't think Mithras was working as normal today.

race Hill very slow today, didn't stay for a drink today, walked straight to queue from WSU and got to P and ride at five past six. An hour and ten minutes after the game finished.

As normal, busses left with empty seats.

It was shut (both sides) due to Uni. open day and we were parking instead on the bomb site formerly where the barracks used to to be. We got there around 13:45 and there wasn't much space left. On a usual day I arrive the same time, the car park on the RHS of the road is usually at most 33% full by then and I can park near the steps to the buses.

Not one post about the long delay of trains after the game today and myself stood in the pissing rain for an hour.

Strange..

I will assume nobody on this thread was actually at the game, no surprise on messageboards i suppose.

Still not had any problems with the transport (and I've walked, cycled, trained, driven and been given a lift.) I think it works fantastically.

Proper pavement perhaps, think thats what i meant really, still think development will creep in slowly.

Would'nt complain about the Amex...however that does'nt mean there can't be improvements. I thought there were plans to lengthen the platforms at the station and then longer trains. Personally I think that if a small exit road was put from Bennetts field carpark to the roundabout that would avoid the cars and buses meeting at the one exit, allowing the cars to filter out and give a clear run for the buses....but what the hell do I know...I'm just a pleb!

i know what you mean - but that road really is dangerous for people walking down it back to woodingdean. the path would take bikes off too and would make a massive difference. there is an awful lot of downs to the east of that path that will never be affected.
it took me half an hour to walk from the stadium to woodingdean - got to be better than waiting an hour for a bus! but people don't realise there is a path there - as it is just a mud track - walking on that road is just so dangerous - particularly at night games

If only I lived in TN6 it would be perfect for me as well! Unfortunately I live a good half hour/20 miles north of you, just off M25, meaning a fight through T Wells/A26 etc if going to come in Lewes way which is only sensible way to Mithras. So only realistic option for me and most others is M25/M23 which cuts out option of Mithras House (or race course).

In reality seems to me Mithras only any good for anyone living east or 30 mins north east of Brighton, or locals. Not at all surprised under used, and am envious of you! For everyone else (including away fans) Mill Road is only option without having to fight through Coldean/Brighton/Falmer to get to Mithras/race course before game?

I guess solution is another park and ride to north of Brighton close to A23 to take pressure off of Mill Road.

Does that include Mill Road this season where you have stayed till final whistle?

while getting away hasnt always been great, i haven't had any problems not experienced at other grounds. despite being in the middle town, White Hart Lane is a pain in the arse to actually get awy from, other end of the spectrum Reading remote stadium provides a bus service so poor i chose to walk back (though its a tad further than thought...).

Then why the hell are you moaning about it?
Why not let the "many who are dying to get away" start these stupid threads?

Jesus, some people.

I was waiting for a train that never turned up for flipping ages with others.
I think I'll go start a new thread about that.
On second thoughts, I have better things to do.

So, to sum up, the stadium isn't heading for big problems, but does have some transport problems that need ironing out or improving. Just more hyperbole from Hyperion then.

At least take heart from the fact that in the "good old days" of the Goldstone, you would have had to negotiate 50 odd punch ups just to get to Hove Station and then get locked in on the bridge or avoid being pushed onto the tracks if you managed to get on the platform.

Getting away from most stadia is a nightmare. Stay behind and have a pie and pint or 3 -at least this is an option at the Amex.
