Is it time we did something about FRANCE?

The thing that pisses me off more than anything about the French is I can't find anything in France which is remotely inferior to anything we have here.

funny then that so many French chose to come here.

being in Sussex, one should be aware that our local sparkling wines made the other side of the downs by Ridgeview and Nyetimber are considered better than the french pop.

The most curious thing..
f*** eating frogs and snails, smelling of garlic all the time, wearing those funny white jumpers with the stripes......
Err... about this wearing stripes?

Expensive is the only thing I agree with you on, but I still argue that I'm happier paying £6 for a pint in a bar overlooking the Seine than I am paying £4 for one down West Street.

I'm doing Belgrade (and Skopje) in February, so hopefully I disagree with you as much on that!

Did we discuss this in a previous conversation too?

I spent several months in Skopje last year so if you have any questions I'd be happy to impart any of my knowledge. Probably the ugliest city I've ever visited, but this sort of adds to its charm

Actually I've heard this too. I believe that the changing global climate has meant that southern England is now more conducive to producing fine sparkling white wine that France's Champagne region. We also consume a great deal more of it than the French, surprisingly

Maybe, I've bored everyone enough with my thoughts on BHAFC endlessly for years so I may as well start repeating myself on cities of the world too!

Cheers, I may well be in touch nearer the time. It's always good to know the score in some of these slightly stranger parts of the continent.

I hope you like meat and pastry

I think you and I have had this very argument before.

I'm afraid my experience (although admittedly only very limited) of Paris was overwhelmingly negative. It was as dirty as Belgrade but far more expensive and unfriendly.

Luckily, I've met many a Frenchman who've subsequently confirmed my feelings towards Paris are actually fairly common among their own too. Paris is not representative of France as a whole, generally speaking
Correct. But like London, you either love it or hate it. My step mum lived there for 10 years and loved it. My wife lived there for 18 months and hated it.

Overall though, I'd have to agree that Parisiens are not representative of France in any case.

Shit your leg off! I hadn't even mentioned the wine.

OH the wine, the many many wines. Not only is there an ABUNDANCE of quality with French wine, but much of it's fantastically cheap. Every day very acceptable table wine costs no more than bottled water a lot of the time, and to the French is arguably MORE important.

And as for cheese, where do I even begin?

Nice Bluejam quote there.

Excuse me if I'm being incredibly dense, but how the hell do you SKI in Australia? Where is the snow?!

No issue - you dense away ! I've been to Mt Buller but there's numerous other resorts in Victoria, NSW and ACT.

I love France. It's a wonderful country and I won't hear a word said against it. Except it has French people in it. And frogs' legs.

One major difference. They do not have an Aristocracy or such a defined class system. We allow the rich to feather their nests at the expense of the masses.

Off with their heads I say!

They chopped off all their aristocrats' heads in 1789. The French rich also feather their nests at the expense of the masses. Except the media are not allowed to tell the people about it.
