It seems the only way Bloom could have won would have been the immediate resigning of both caicedo and Mcallister the week after they left.
Whilst true the best they could come up with was Baleba? Seriously, the lad needs a lot of work £5m would have still been a risky punt.

I wondered this too. Because RDZ doesn’t strike me as the kind of person who admits when he is wrong easily. To go against Bloom and win on that transfer, and then give up on the player after 6 months doesn’t make sense to me. I would have envisaged more of a ‘Why does RDZ keep playing Dahoud when he isn’t up to it?’ type situation if that really was the case.

Interesting in Naylors article today he highlights 2 areas of conflict;

Dahoud being a RDZ signing which Bloom reluctantly sanctioned - on ‘hefty wages’ - and RDZ wanted to send Barco out on loan as not being ready for PL football.
Whether RDZ wanted to sign Dahoud or not, the higher-ups at the club still made the final decision to pull the trigger and sign him, no?

Not entirely sure how I feel about the blame solely resting upon RDZ for that when we're all too aware that business doesn't get done until Bloom green-lights it. Feels like a bit of club PR from Naylor to me.

This time next season we will be saying ‘Can we hang on to Baleba?’. He had only made 21 appearances as a professional footballer when we signed him and was still at secondary school when we Potter was managing us. Give him a chance FFS! He’s going to be amazing.

Given that he has been a self-serving 'independent' journalist for as long as I remember (25+ years) the idea of Naylor doing any PR for the club is as laughable as RDZ apologizing in his post match prezzer and begging for his job back.

Some may disagree, but Baleba, for me, is an example of why the club do not like spending huge money on signings. If they do not end up being regular first choices then we are saddled with them.

Too many and a club potentially ends up in trouble and also struggling with FFP. Unable to find a sustainable way out in playing terms.

The leagues are littered with red markers. We know, and the club have stated, that they are conscious that relegation can happen and they need to be in a position to return. If Leeds United do not win the play off final they will lose their best players. We would probably not be in that position.

But this requires a strategy that is prepared. Hence the way the club operates. There are too many emotional responses here. That is not how the club runs. It runs on clinical logic.Sometimes there will be errors. But this is factored in.

You publicly question your bosses motivation and investment model, start to blame others for your failures and yes, however good you are there is a very good chance you will be shown the door.

I had been half expecting this since the first time I heard RDZ doing his dirty laundry in public.

Let’s not blame Bloom for this or think any potential manager will be put off by it.

RDZ knew the job he was taking on and the restrictions, he obviously thought he could force Bloom to change the model due to the astounding season we had last year. Selling our best midfield players and not replacing them was the beginning of the end. I get how frustrated RDZ must have been this season but reacting as he did to the media did for him imo. In fairness maybe he is very relieved to be leaving as he was never getting what he wanted.

That's a pretty accurate assessment.

I’m so bored with hearing this line. We had two world class players who wanted to leave, and we got offered £160 million+ for them. Only Man City and perhaps Real Madrid would have possibly been able to hold on to them in the whole of world football. We then spent €30 million on a teenager as a replacement! That is a serious investment. And we had Gilmour already ready to go after his season bedding in last year.

We absolutely DID replace them. Did we replace them with players at the exact same level they were? Well no, of course not, because that costs £160 million +, in which case we might as well have just hung on to Caicedo and MacAllister.

It still amazes me how many people just don’t seem to have the mental capacity to think in timescales of years rather than months, or even weeks. We are fortunate that Tony Bloom can, which is partly why our club is in the amazing position it is in.

With all due respect, that was one of the biggest manipulations of the viewing public ever pulled, Cowell and Holden's apparently jaw drop reactions to SB, all pre-planned, with full knowledge of a vocal prowess that belied her appearance etc. They used to call the TV 'the Idiot Box' many decades ago, enough said, or in the words of SuBo:

"I dreamed a dream that RDZ was staying,

I prayed that TB would be forgiving,
Of our late season slump in form...'

Oh I agree. I don't watch any of the X-BGT stuff as it's so manipulated. Just couldn't think of any better corollary.

We could of got JWP for 30 million from Southampton and Ross Barkley for a free , rather than replacing them with a kid who has not played 25 first team games , a lightweight free Transfer and a retiree from Liverpool, GIlmour could not get in the first team last year until the last half dozen games

Not to us of course, but to prospective managers.

We all know the song sheet, buy players young/cheap, develop them, sell for a profit. We are all comfortable with aiming to establish ourselves as a top ten club, we know our history etc etc… Managers are no doubt schooled in our ways before any job offer is considered so theoretically can have no complaints when we stick to our guns.

But by their very nature managers want to be leaders, to develop their own ideas, get players that fit in with their plans. Basically, to at least have some input into the plans for the team.

But we have now seen TBs absolute determination to stick to his plan cost us another manager. He has every right of course, he has bankrolled everything that we have. This single mindedness has led to the unexpected departure of three managers now - Poyet, Hughton and De Zerbi. Each was for differing reasons, the first two sacked and the third by mutual consent. But any incoming guy might well think to himself, ‘at any point I could get fired out of the blue’. Not through shit results, not a massive falling out with the boss, but just because the owner feels something is not quite right. No warning, no vote of confidence, just BOOM, gone.

Could this make us a slightly less attractive proposition than we think we are?

However in the real world, there cannot be a single professional football manager who believes they will never get sacked. It´s a fact of life.

As for bloom. There's a balance between selling the club to a manager and being completely realistic with them. I think for bloom the players are a lot more important than the manager so he's happy with a 2 year turnaround.

Much as you love to be the martyr that everyone picks on dwayne, you didn't 'know' that Dahoud and Fati were RDZ signings, you simply suspected it as did many of us on here. And I don't remember anyone being 'shouted down' for saying it.

To be fair when we signed Dahoud RDZ was quoted as saying he was a player he had admired for some time and tried to sign in a previous job

Clubs like Fulham,Burnley Nottingham Forest etc spent £100m plus just to try and stay in PL and sides coming up will do the same. TB will need some luck and outstanding recruitment team to continue the way he is.
