Reading his reply about steel for the new stadium, I get the impression he is getting a bit fed up with the doom merchants who are constantly demanding to know if the new stadium works are up to schedule. Can't say I blame him.

If things were going wrong my guess is that we would soon hear about it from some source. The fact that no news media, employee, contractor etc has been suggesting all is not well suggests that all is well.

I don't blame him. Some of the questions asked have been ridiculous lately.

I think we should ban all questions relating to the stadium. Then give a 3 day ban to anyone who still feels the need to ask one.

Well, if you ask a question like "has the steel been ordered?" and the answer you get is "we entered into a contract with buckingham group, they're very good at what they do and are currently on track" your question isn't being answered, is it?

If we're on track, as he claims the options are :"Yes, it has been ordered" or "No, but don't panic, we're not scheduled to order it yet, every thing's still on track".

Since he is giving vague replies that don't address the question, I don't think it's wrong to ask again.

A lot of questions are ridiculous, they are borne out of some frustration with our form, or a perceived attitude problem of the players, or just generally frustrated because they don't know what's going on, the board are taking everything behind closed doors, and given the club's history it scares them when that happens.

The board put the money in, it's their business, we don't "have a right to know" and so on, but this club's history, involving near extinction due to secret dealings in the boardroom, scares the players. The board may own it, but it is our club.

If the board want the continued support of the fans they need to not keep us out, not as a matter of our rights, but as a matter trust.

The less we know about things, the more room there is for whispers, rumours, allegations etc. which will only erode this club.

I think stadium questions are pertinent.

Just not ones that the question-asker won't accept the answer for, and feels the need to repeat until he hears the answer he wants.

Straight answers to straight questions is a reasonable request is it not?

And if we had better communication/clarity from the top we wouldnt have to involve Insider!

Questions should be sent to an admin first before it goes on there, some of the questions asked on there are ridiculous, and repeatative.

Some people abuse the system to ask him retarded questions, and I'm sure he doesn't appreciate it either.

I think the main problem is that myself and Chimney's questions are not being answered.

The vague non-committal answers which Insider posts only fuel anxiety.

Martin Perry has made some grand statements about the dates for funding and the steel order/purchase...only to go vague when the date got or gets close.

Sorry, I meant it scares the fans.

I think some of the questions don't really need asking, and they waste his time.

I personally don't think we have any right to know what's going on behind the scenes, why should we? We support the club, they run it. We pay to go see our team play, so we invest in the club and therefore we're all stakeholders in the club, but that's different from being a shareholder, we don't have the right to expect to know when the steel is being delivered etc, I would like the club to keep us fully informed with what stage Falmer is at, but they don't have to, it's up to them to decide.

I think Beach Hut raises a good point about the travel vouchers, and I think the latest reply is very well put and answers the questions fully. The council are very strict with targets and things, believe me, I've experience of that...

The only problem I would have with that is that currently there are a lot of strong opinions on here.

Some people, as evidenced in this thread, disagree with asking questions about the stadium. I don't personally see why wanting regular updates on the progress of the stadium is so wrong. If I'm the admin who filters the questions, I would allow them, if someone else is they might not. Who is right?

That was, of course, a rhetorical question. Neither is specifically "right", and that is my point. The degree of filtering or what is open to quesioning would need to be agreed upon, and do you really see the posters on here agreeing on anything?

Sorry, I meant it scares the fans.

Did you not also mean shareholders instead of Board?
i.e.
"The shareholders put the money in, it's their business, we don't "have a right to know" and so on, but this club's history, involving near extinction due to secret dealings in the boardroom, scares the fans. The shareholders may own it, but it is our club."

The Board are appointed by and can be removed by the shareholders; no individual shareholder has a majority of shares and the current Board members hold less than 40% of shares between them.

And what about the trust that fans should show towards the officials at the club?

This continual asking of questions that the club can't answer due of business reasons or demands that they couldn't realistically meet and then getting worked up because they don't tell / give you what you want to hear sums up what is wrong with the club at the moment, - it is a control freak attitude, the need of fans to feel in charge / control of what is happening there almost on a day to day basis, is starting to go too far.

If you want regular updates on the stadium's progress, May i suggest you go and stand on a building site adjacent to Falmer University and see for yourself (or see Jack Straws weekly photo updates) - problem solved

its not just the steel that has been ordered. The company my wife works for has had a quote through from one of their customers for all the fixings for the roofing. If things are that far put back then why would they get prices now for the roofing bits when the roof is the last thing to be put on.

She is finding out more info for me but Buckingham have sub contracted the roofing build out as she said its not Buckingham that the quote is for
