Roma fans, be aware that you can do anything you like in the UK without fear our authorities and police will take action. They are paralysed by incompetence and the fear of being labelled as discriminatory. Use this to your full advantage. No one will intervene. They’re also totally overrun and demoralised and a bit ‘soft’ by your standards eg no guns, and if you were ever shot by a special arms unit it would be that officers fault not yours and they can expect a lengthy sentence.

You will however be observed by video. Expect this rather than actual intervention. Even so, be aware all footage taken is never actually used, especially if you dress in obligatory black clothing including a mask. You’ll never be identified and so nothing will ever come of it, despite threats of dawn raids and arrests days after using such (useless therefore) ‘evidence’. It’ll never happen. CCTV is much overrated. No one keeps it and it’s always too grainy. Much like used cat litter.

So bring your flares, smoke bombs, stand on seats, chant facist and homophobic songs; fly your inflammatory banners and obviously stab away as you do. All will be tolerated (although you should expect a few tuts). Our public order and safety authorities will be far too busy focused on the threat of smuggled bottle tops and inconveniencing home fans in general to bother with your more confrontational anti social antics. Instead you should receive priority transport (if you don’t, just shove way to front, no one will do anything) Finally, do remember if arriving early and doing some shopping in town pre match, you are not expected to pay in the UK. Just take what you like, no one will stop you as they can’t and also the authorities don’t exist to come and arrest you. If you are ever stopped, claim assault and sue the proprietor. Again, our legal system will find in your favour. You are not expected equally to pay for your defence. That’s on us too.

It doesn't happen generally to rugby fans (but it may well one day) because I spent a damn good look at them when I stayed over to Saturday and this is what I saw. They mostly tend to be much older folk, in their fifties and sixties - many are in couples. They tend to be very well-heeled folk who are very risk-averse, ie, they can afford to take taxis everywhere, to the bars and restaurants they frequent. They are exactly the kind of people who wouldn't take any risks late at night even in Britain, never mind a foreign city with a known issue of late night criminality. I know rugby fans, I'm one myself, they are very conservative folk in whatever they do

Fair, I had a very different experience on the Friday night in Trastavere. Plenty taking risks, slaughtered and having a grand old carefree time. There was at least 10,000 of them there, comfortably more, I'd imagine and I'd actually go as far to say that the Scots were much more obvious targets than nearly all Albion fans that I saw were. Outside of the day of the game, there wasn't a blue and white stripe on show.

The attack was a one-off incident, and the fact is we'll never know whether the motivations for the attack were random or not. The fact is that it was in a different situation to matchday and is very unlikely to be repeated on Thursday night. As my original post stated, the frustration is that there aren't any different provisions in travel to stop any issues tomorrow night if they were to arise, when we had to adhere to them previously.

Yeah I still could not tell you if they were football fans, on various hooligan pages they’ve denied it, BUT it did have all the hallmarks of a football related attack. I expect these gangs operate under the pretence of football, but have very little to do with it. There’s every chance it could have been football related, and I do have a feeling that part of it was. Obviously my comments on here are because I am (understandably) slightly on edge, and nervous. I just don’t want anyone else getting hurt really, and I trust our police force to deal with the crowds. I’ll be getting the train as normal, as 90% of Roma fans are good people who support their team.

Saw a group on Brighton seafront this afternoon whilst out for our daily constitutional. I didn’t think their unltras were arrivin* until tomorrow but they were shouting at people drinking in the seafront bars, alarming a few.


we took the pragmatic decision to turn around at the shelter bars and restaurants and walk back to hove as it looked a bit threatening.

but we are both pensioners and the Brighton boot boys were all at school so couldn’t protect us from these rampant Italians

Football related in as much that there was a football match on featuring an English team with supporters in a vulnerable position through drink (not necessarily drunk), unfamiliar location, time of night and in small groups possibly splitting up because of their hotel location. And the nature of their injuries.

Not football related in terms of the scum that committed the attack and the lack of security in the area. If you make a cowardly attack like that it is because you are scum, a coward, a criminal, someone who has little fear of injuring someone (or worse), probably uneducated with little hope in life or fear of being caught.

So a bit of both.

I think there could be trouble especially revenge from 'our fans' some people will use it as an excuse to attack the visiting fans, lets hope its under control and the police can prevent trouble.
