To them we are just English fans that rampaged across Europe in the 80’s and 90’s.

Some of the comments on here saying we should have been treated differently are as we are a nice, friendly club have been incredibly naive. They are not going to differentiate between English clubs or the English national team.
Then the continental fans shouldn't expect our coppers to differentiate between the family fans and the hardcore Ultras...... but... we do, it's called using your brain.

From AS Roma website: https://www.asroma.com/it/notizie/7...si-giallorossi-che-si-recheranno-in-trasferta

Key bits:
  • Usual meeting point - King & Queen
  • AS Roma fans can use either local buses or trains to transfer to the Amex
  • Alcohol will NOT be served in the ground
  • They'll be kept in for a minimum of 30 minutes
  • They'll then be escorted to station (apart from those on organised coaches)
I wonder how many flares they'll manage to smuggle in.
Plenty of flares I hope I want that full European football experience instead of the sterile shite the PL offers most weeks.
Was most disappointed with Ajax and AEK.

A good walk might get rid of their pent up aggression, Liverpool looked lively a few years back.

Really!?

The AEK fans at the Amex were superb.

I'm not sure I'm happy with this arrangement. Out of 4 sets of fans Roma is the only one there has been any trouble with. The trouble has been splashed all over the news here and in Italy & we have reported them to UEFA for other stuff. I don't think they're going to be the happiest bunch of fans. :(
I worried about the Marseille match & they were being bussed in. When they're saying they're being kept in for 30 mins after the match is that going to include the time for clapping off the team? I usually like to have an after match beer as well so I'm going to scrub that.
I completely understand the 'treat people as you want to be treated yourself' but I really don't think now is the time to let a couple of thousand (I don't know how many tickets they've been allocated) Roma fans merrily make their way to the stadium and back however they like. It's not right that I'm already thinking of a different path to usual. I don't even contemplate taking a different path when Palace come to town.
Any chance it's an error in translation? This is so wrong and our club don't usually get things 'this' wrong. Bearing in mind it's an 8pm KO, Southern are shite & the queues are going to be massive at Falmer anyway, why is the club even considering that this is a good idea???
Whilst I do not want to belittle the stabbing, a sense of perspective is needed. It was one incident and the report I read said it might not even be football related. I appreciate it’s one incident too many but, still, a sense of perspective is needed.

Whilst it was clearly football related, it was also a day before the game, and clearly targeted. Hopefully nothing to worry about.

I think the reason for people's fear and annoyance at this, is that there is no chance taken when we're in Marseille/Athens/Rome but when they're over here, we can't even provide a bus service for 1,500 fans. Ajax aside, I didn't meet a single home fan anywhere near any of the grounds. It's pretty bizarre double standards, and if it were to kick off, then why were they given the opportunity in the first place?

Roma fans, be aware that you can do anything you like in the UK without fear our authorities and police will take action. They are paralysed by incompetence and the fear of being labelled as discriminatory.
It's the Sopranos' "anti-Italian discrimination" meme caught in the wild :ROFLMAO:

When asked explicitly by @Commander

“Was it definitely Roma fans? Or more of a robbery than a football thing? Did they target you two specifically, do you think?”

@jackalbion said

“Well I don’t know they came from behind (careful now), and stabbed us both blindside. I don’t know what they looked like other than the foot in myface. 3 lacerations in the arse, and 2 in Andy.”

So we don’t know if it was football related, or they were targeted, unless I have missed something?

As I say, let’s try and keep things in perspective.

Yeah, I'm not saying it couldn't be random, and I don't think that any of the attacked were in any position to see who their attackers were or why, but to me the stabbing in the buttocks (a calling card of Roma) and the fact it didn't happen to the tens of thousands of Scots in the city, paired with other reports of a group scouting out known away fan drinking spots, kind of implies it was targeted and football related. That aside, if it was a robbery, apart from poor Andy, it was a terrible attempt.

Indeed. Presumably all gang robberies late at night in Rome have all completely stopped since last Friday and will only start again in April once the Europa grinds up again. Some common sense needed, it's a city that has a crime problem, as many big urban centres do

I'm sure if you ask a parent nicely they'll show you how to tie a knot.
You have obviously never worn a pair of DrM’s 1460 :) , I know how to tie laces. The issue with the 1460 is that for each boot I must remove the lases from at least the top two holes then loosen the rest all the way down before they come off, then do the reverse to put them back on. It would have been a big pain in the @rse, I bought these for traveling because you can be asked to remove your shoes at the airport, so they just slip on and off. I didn't realise how helpful that would be going into a football stadium as it's the first time I have ever been asked to remove them in that situation before.

It doesn't happen generally to rugby fans (but it may well one day) because I spent time having a damn good look at them when I stayed over to Saturday and this is what I saw. They mostly tend to be much older folk, in their fifties and sixties - many are in couples. They tend to be very well-heeled people who are very risk-averse, ie, they can afford to take taxis everywhere, to the bars and restaurants they frequent. They are exactly the kind of people who wouldn't take any risks late at night even in Britain, never mind a foreign city with a known issue of late night criminality. I know rugby fans, I'm one myself, they are very conservative folk in whatever they do

Are you 5ft 5 and walking with a scrawny teenager (no offence to teen ) from the ground to the bottom of Coldean Lane? I'm not much of a fan of it after normal night games, tbh. Although that might be mainly because I'm a clumsy tw@t that trips over twigs and gets covered in mud! Even on the other games where they were supposed to be bused in, there were groups of 8 or 9 very tall blokes that accidentally surrounded us on the way to the match. It's an annoyance that I won't be able to have a post match beer & spend a stupid amount of money on a mars bar. I am a warrior though, so I'll get a beer and try and sneak it pass the stewards on the 'no alcohol' line by the train station. If I get caught, I'll explain that I need the plastic cup for protection and ask if they've got a bottle top so Jnr can luzz his water. :lolol:
