I think immigration procedures should be toughened, and err that's about it, there are too many people taking the piss.

The problem as far as I can tell is that too many of you have been reading the Daily Mail and swallowing everything they print. Yes there are some people who abuse the system, but that will be true whatever system we adopt.

My experience of immigrants, both legal and illegal is they are hardworking people and are less inclined to sit around on their big fat arses looking for scapegoats than most of you.

I agree with that voroshilov, immigrants, legal, generally commit to a british way of life and contribute accordinglt, toughening immigration laws isnt the answer, toughening the fence which stops the freeloaders sneaking in on the other hand seriously needs looking at.

I get a couple of chaps in to do some work around the grounds. I use an agency and once I inquired why it is immigrants always come along. 'Because they always turn up' came the reply. Work bloody hard too. Thoroughly decent fellows.

What's wrong with 'economic' migrants?

If it is just about better jobs or a better standard of living, then you had better ask the many, many NSCers who work in Europe, the States, Oz etc how they feel about being told what they are doing is wrong. If it is about something more serious than that - i.e. not starving - then we should recognise that worldwide the first move any oppressive government makes is to find a way to put the peoples they oppose into a state of poverty. Even if the government is not one considered amongst the worst of the world's oppressive regimes, surely trying to find a better, more secure life for you and your family is a fundamental right? As far as I am concerned, for example, Turks who have been put out of their jobs because of 'market liberalisation' and face a serious lack of welfare because both are principal demands made on poorer nations under GATT etc, and specifically on Turkey in order for it to join the EU, but who do not live in a democratic society where such policies can be reversed, have every right to try and find succour in a country that has historically prided itself on being the good guy in the world (whatever the reality!).

humanity is one thing, yes any creed colour race treetment like anyone else but you cant ignore the number of assylum seekers and other johnny foreigners coming over here and claiming state benefits and the health service is actually clogged up with these people taking from the system but not putting in,yet Mr & Mrs Smith that worked here all lives paid in their NI and then live abroad coz its too expensive here on their pensions and need the odd health treatment are about to be refused. All the time the health service is clogged up with these q jumpers then ya granny and old aunt agnus will wait even longer for the tratment they desperately need.

Oh and nothing wrong with the Daily Mail quality right paper after all Edgar reads it!
