How much do postman get a week after tax?

Judging by my mate.

They must earn a tidy packet as he has a Penthouse over looking the susssex downs and he has been away to the Maldives,Turkey (Twice), cornwall and always has another holiday planned just a month or two away.

At one time he was having some major work to his car which lasted 6months and he was being driven around in a limo.

Too much is my anwser.

Your talking shit I think is the answer!

Not sure I'd want to be a postie at the moment, was chatting to a friend who works in Finance for RM who was saying there are cut backs a-coming!

Gullsworth and Stat Brother where do you work? I'm with you 100% we are being royally shafted by the government and the regulator. I work at Gatwick Mail Centre.
For those of you on here who don't know what the strike is all about here is an attachment to look at.

Near Ducks, Geese, and Seagulls
Now I'm a union man
Amazed at what I am
I say what I think
That the company stinks
Yes I'm a union man.

When we meet in the local hall
I'll be voting with them all
With a hell of a shout
It's out brothers out
And the rise of the factory's fall.

Oh you don't get me I'm part of the union
You don't get me I'm part of the union
You don't get me I'm part of the union
Till the day I die, till the day I die.

As a union man I'm wise
To the lies of the company spies
And I don't get fooled
By the factory rules
'Cause I always read between the lines.

And I always get my way
If I strike for higher pay
When I show my card
To the Scotland Yard
This what I say.

Oh you don't get me I'm part of the union
You don't get me I'm part of the union
You don't get me I'm part of the union
Till the day I die, till the day I die.

Before the union did appear
My life was half as clear
Now I've got the power
To the working hour
And every other day of the year.

So though I'm a working man
I can ruin the government's plan
Though I'm not too hard
The sight of my card
Makes me some kind of superman.

Oh you don't get me I'm part of the union
You don't get me I'm part of the union
You don't get me I'm part of the union
Till the day I die, till the day I die.

Hither (sometimes Thither)
I always thought it a shame that Posties weren't guaranteed a saucy old woman's slice once or twice a week, while the milkman, his nutsac, a bulger not unlike that owned by a pet rat, scraped indelibly on his wagon seat, simply awaits the nearest curtains to rustle before action is promised and a reminder that a "tip goes boths ways" is unleashed. Yes, i watched some Robin Asquith films pre-pubescently, but, in general, i feel my disappointment is fairly placed. I may not trust a postman, but this man, as a lover, can surely not be rivalled. Small shorts, giant sacks all professionally filled, ankle-high socks, tanned legs and unwarted hands that know all there is to know about letterboxes, and that when the dog barks loudly is turnaround-and-go-home-time.

One of my main concerns is the managements refusal to negotioate.
Leighton was on 5-live this morning and said he was quite happy to meet & tell the union what was going to happen.

And I'm in a slightly bigger office.
We saved over 20k last year, above and beyond budget & didn't see a penny of it, now they are looking to shave more hours out of the office and we can't see where from. Even though the projected area growth (more housing) is at an all time high.

:tosser: of the highest order:tosser:

1) Ex council flat
2)Ist forementioned holiday was last year.....................2nd.....budget holiday to Turkey.......wow..........2nd trip there up in the air depending on availability of CHEAP flights..................cornwall...........B&B weekend away to celibrate a birthday
3) I run an 8 year-old deisel Astra............it went wrong and cost me best part of £1300....was close if i was to scrap it and as it was all in all my savings have all but vanished.

So Bollocks we dont earn a lot:rant: and its not often i have a rant on here but us Posties are realy having a lot to contend with lately!
Modernisation..............bollocks..........the Royal mail before competition was a well run outfit...........not perfect i agree but the efficientcy levels were running at a healthy 92-94% but because big business want a slice of the profit cake the business now has to try to compete in the market on a completely unfair playing field. Private firms are creaming off the lucrative logistic oprerations of the Royal Mail and cherry picking the big highly profitable Business Post industry. Why is it the Royal Mail is left with picking up the pieces of trying to make a profit out of the less lucrative part of the business i.e ........the door to door deliveries to residential customers while having to subsidise the compitition in area like logistics and bulk mailing. Worst to come i am afraid the proposals include later starting time for Posties (cutting their wages) having the knock -on effect of later deliveries and more unsatified customers. We dont want it....the customers dont want it.......our union dont want it and if some of there proposals are carried through then i fear the Post office will be unreconisable to the current outfit. We are going the same way as the Railways and IMO that has to be a bad thing!!:braders:

:bla::bla:

The Royal Mail at last have some competition.

Welcome to the real world!!

The problem is that for all the years of monopoly succesive boards have done nothing with the profits made, not even pay into the pension fund.
So now competetion has come, hardly a surprise, RM is nowhere near ready to compete.
But the plans in place to combat this basically call for less front line staff, doing more work in less hours, for less money. Which in turn will generate larger % bonuses for the fat cats.
Hardly grounds for confidence.

Remember all the work 'lost' by Royal Mail is still being delivered by postmen.
Year on year we are delivering more post than ever, RM are just making less money on it.
On the busy days (Thurs Fri) I take 6 pouches out, 5 weighing approx 16kgs & the one I leave with has nearer 20kgs of post in it.

Why is unfair artificially created competition a welcome to the real world?
Do you want the price of your stamps to go through the roof in the next few years?

Think your mate might find himself the subject of a Post Office investigation sometime soon

Sadly when you work for the aging old hulking giant that is Royal Mail - you won't see a penny of it until the company modernises...Its a shame but its true. Sadly the union intervention in this one will only spell disaster. I'm not a huge union fan it has to be said, but there is no point in asking the old dog (Royal Mail) for more money, until it can do a few new tricks (faster, quicker, more efficiently) otherwise you're just taking money from a sinking ship...

Been there done that in a rather similar company....and they've just been sold for asset stripping! Hopefully you'll avoid that - but if you push them too far....

You know, the vast majority of us who have lived abroad will attest that our Postal system is the best in the world. It's also one of the cheapest. Postpersons get crap money and have to work in all conditions as well as working what many consider unsociable hours. There's usually a vacancy everywhere for them and I for one don't blame them for striking. See what happens if the go on a on a protracted strike.

A long and complex calculation is in place for us to share 50% of all profit over and above budget.
Unsurprisingly this was missed by 0.7% the very next day the bosses bonus figure was released. Guess what? they were due to recieve a massive bonus, but had to quickly decline it.

As for sold to asset strip, no need as it's already happening.
At some point Deutche (sp) Post will buy Royal Mail, they have a 2 Billion Euro slush fund sitting there waiting for the right time.

I am afraid every business should have competition and the Royal Mail are a prime example of a company that have got away with monopolising the industry for far too long.

It has been good for business and the Royal Mail will have to find their place in the market as every business has to do in the country.
