Good. I have had a bellyfull of it and if I and others started the bankwagon rolling, I am pleased.

So u have never shouted, ' Northern Monkey'? Sheep Shagger? Scouse git? Scottist idiot? see where I am going?

If the truthful answer is no......Im glad I dont go to football with you.....

The above are NOT racist or threating.....same way as gay chants are not...worrying the majority of us...

you are like the little kid in the playground who wants it all his own way....

In my opinion complaing about chanting at football is quite pathetic.

Have you ever played the game and had an opponent 'whisper' nice greetings in your ear? even in a pub team it happens or did u cry off to mummy..

Grows some balls .....you DO NOT SPEAK FOR ME

Not sure bringing attention to it like this is a winner.

The best way to discourage behaviour you dislike is to not acknowledge it, rather than raise its profile higher.

Plus cant exactly see other club imposing sanctions on 1000s of fans at a time if the chants start up.

Doesn't bother me in the ground, but when I start getting verbals when walking to/from games is when the line is crossed!

On the contrary, words can be powerful. Keep telling a child that they're useless when they growing and 90% of the time, they will grow up being useless. A few may find it a motivation to prove others wrong, but that's the exception rather than the rule.

Banter is acceptable but where do you draw the line? We can see you holding hands/ does your boyfriend know you're here is banter and everyone accepts that, but there has been obscene chanting recently at Leicester and Millwall.

West Ham - " f*ck off home and stick your c*ck in your Boyfriends a*se you f*cking f*ggots " was the general jist of the friendly banter outside the Amex last Monday. I don't find this right. Banter about the team, players, ref, fine but this, is this really football banter and if so, why ?.

Racism is much less common in football now. This is due to a concerted effort over time to highlight abuse and challenge this behaviour. I am of the opinion that the same needs to be done with homophobia before it lessens in football. I am sure it will get worse before it gets better.

We are not little kids at a football match...we are grown adults.....

If you dont think it is the right enviroment for a kid, the answer is simple....if you are a good parent ...DONT TAKE THEM

I really think that people need to stop being so pathetic. I've heard the chants and they can hardly be described as anything more than micky taking. By complaining to the football authorities all club or supporters are doing is making themselves out to be a bunch of CRY BABIES. I've heard the chants from Brighton supporters of ' We're gay and we're one nil up', so will there be complaints about these as well? Fat supporters will soon be complaining about being accused of eating all the pies!!

Maybe, you never know. :lolol:

Good point made by DJ Leon about a player. When this was last discussed I mentioned the Tottenham fans who were convicted of homophobic chanting to Sol Campbell. They were calling him 'gay boy' which most people would consider 'banter'? Legally it is classed as hate crime because homosexuals have been subjected to horrific crimes against them because of their orientation.

That sticks and stones line fucks me of something rotten, while the chanting does not bother me, infact it makes me laugh as it shows how pathetic the other team fans are. Its clearly offending some people and thats not acceptable, i dont think going to the BBC was a great idea at all infact its a disaster, but name calling does hurt can often hurt alot more than getting a slap.

Fact is we should not accept all chanting at football some i hear at games make my stomach turn, fact is SOME people seem to think football is chance to act like idiots.

Northerners, Scousers and Scots, as far as I'm aware, are not really the focus of much discrimination or oppression ? I'm pretty sure that they ahve equal rights and have probably never been the focus of hatred in their communities.

I like the point though that as long as they are not offensive to the majority then they are OK. Nice.

My opinion is the " banter " particularly outside the ground but not exclusively has gone too far. As I BHAFC fan I have had enough of it. It is used solely to provoke, antagonise and start a fight of which I would feel inclined to get " involved " in and would be banned by the club. Anyway everyone else seems to think it is acceptable so for that reason I will not comment on this topic anymore and for that reason I am out. Just a thought lets just have a debate about topics between fans without some of them finding the need to insult the other person because they have a different opinion. I know it won't catch on but heres hoping.

When they said that to you, did it make you any more likely to do it? When brighton fans were in the train queue telling palace to 'f*** off you pikey cnuts' was that any better?
There are some horrible people out there, let's not let them bother us, eh?

Hither (sometimes Thither)
There's a clear homophobia throughout the supposedly macho world of football, so if the issue can be raised and discussed, then all the better. I am completely unbothered by being called a benny or if opposition fans suddenly sing it louder, but if such cries are continuing to allow people to see homosexuality as an insult, then let's try and get people educated.

Maybe we should all go and watch football in silence?

referees a wanker?

the list goes on
