I can honestly say I don't

Well, I will have to take your word for it.

I believe the majority of people would own up to using stereotypical insults at some point in their football supporting days. Pot, kettle, black springs to mind.

Not the real one
Between the two threads I think this one generally speaks more sense. Alot saying its individual's that need punishing not whole crowds just chanting banter, the other thread doesn't get that.

The fact that it is offending some of our more sensitive fans is I suppose reason to try to clamp down on it.

Personally I really couldn't give a toss, the last time I got offended by any thing like this I was 10 and called a bender in the playground causing other 10 year olds to laugh.

Have you gone straight now then H1 ?

Seriously though, this stuff just makes me laugh as well but I can see why some take offence when it can go too far.
Some of the chants are quite clever and quite amusing.

We are not little kids at a football match...we are grown adults.....

If you dont think it is the right enviroment for a kid, the answer is simple....if you are a good parent ...DONT TAKE THEM

Why should parents stop taking kids to football?

To be fair, that's not what he meant, I think.

The way I read it was until the chanting is eradicated, which won't be any time soon and you think it's not suitable for children to be exposed to then it is your duty as a parent not to expose kids to it.

Good, it's just WRONG. The fact that some don't find is offensive isn't good enough, people might not be offended by racism but does that make it right? No. It's the exactly the same thing here. It should be clamped down on, and shame on the FA for not doing anything, or doing 'f*** all' as you may say.

The base of what they are saying is that homosexuals should be ridiculed and that is okay, it's teaching the kids it's okay to use gay abuse in schools and it's perfectly acceptable which it is not. It has far wider implications than you personally being offended by a chant.

My sentiments exactly. I've been trying to type something that coherent all day, well said.

I dont think its THAT bad. But if we are getting reported for Sheep Shagger gate, then this should be looked at too

IMO I think some of Brighton's chants are much much worse than the homophopic drivel we get every week. Two games already this season we have sung about 1 individual fan, not a making a generalisation about the whole area. Im talking the Leicester "slapper" and the woman at Birmingham on Saturday

I`d have to agree here. That abuse of that girl made me cringe. How can chants of her having chlamydia and a fanny like a bucket be funny when there were kids all around her listening to that. What did she actually do ? Because I missed the start of it.
'Does your boyfriend know you`re here' is totally different to the horrible stuff that you can sometimes hear..

:John Hewitt, chairman of the Albion's supporters club, said the problem is especially bad at away games.

"We get it everywhere we go," he said

...look at her bragging again

:safeway:

Blimey, I find myself agreeing with you. Have you been drinking, or have I?

(Granted, from what I saw, she didn't appear to be the politest lass, certainly she appeared to be giving out plenty of V signs and wanker gestures- bit Jeremy Kyle perhaps?- but I'm still a little uncomfortable with it. Don't know if her behaviour prompted the songs or was a response to it?)

Thank u ....someone who can read......or wants to read the whole post....

Dont take your kids somewhere adults have a few beers if u are upset with a bit of bad language....YOu are the parent...not me....my kids went to the Goldstone. Gillingham and Falmer , there was enough bad language about belloti and archer when they went.....I just explained what it was about and why.......

Be a parent....dont expect everyone to conform to your way of thinking

I think people need to be less sensitive about this stuff.

I'm not going to trawl the entire thread but there's some stuff in the first couple of pages by DJ Leon and a couple of others that is analyzing this far too much.

Forget about oppressed minority groups and all the rest because it has nothing to do with that, it's all a question of intent:

If a load of West Ham/Birmingham/milwall etc. fans turned up at Pride and started singing those songs it would be overtly homophopic and there would be specific victims, because it is a gathering of homosexual men and women. That would clearly need some action.

The chants aimed at us at football aren't aimed at us because of our sexuality. We are defined by the fact that we support BHAFC. Gay, straight, white, black, brown are all represented at one time or another, it doesn't matter who or what you are - you are only in that ground for one reason. The intended victim of the chants is BHA fans, not gay people.

Because of this it will do more harm than good to overplay the situation. Just ignore it and it will fade away as attitudes in society change, look how far they've come in the last decade, let alone the last 30 years.

Urgh ffs, this is gonna get so out of hand.

It is stereotypical, mearly banter, we called Cardiff all sheep shaggers when we went there. It's not racist get the f*** over it, this is what it's like supporting the gay capital of England

Well we just had a big piece on 5Live about us at around 5:30pm. Apparently BHA fans are getting fed up with it, so Peter Allen got a Palace fan on to comment. A Brighton fan didnt help by texting that " we give as good as we get"
