Anyone who booed our own Keeper off the pitch when he came over and apologised can f*** RIGHT OFF as far as i'm concerned! :tosser: :tosser: :tosser:

This board is very much split over who's the better keeper and i'm without doubt in the Kuipers corner but i was EMBARRASED to be an Albion fan at full time. The bloke made a huge mistake which could happen to anyone, then made a hugely brave decision to come over to the fans and apologise only to get that sort of stick!

I don't care who you are if you booed your own player when he came over to apologise you should be very ashamed! :nono: :nono:

I don't doubt that Kuipers is popular - and I can understand that, largely; he doubtless loves the club, and shows this when he plays. Unfortunately, this has resulted in him being portrayed as a far more capable keeper than he actually is. How many years is it since he's really been number one? You've got to go back to Hinshelwood to find the last manager who regarded him as such. But clearly, the fans know better, and were doubtless completely right to boo off one of our players for making a mistake. Makes you proud.
You actually have to go back as far as McGhee to find a manager who regarded him as number one. And personally, while I don't claim to know better than anyone, I form my own opinions on players. :) And that doesn't make me boo anyone. :)

How is that possible?

Hendo's kicks find the target-man's head almost every time, Kuipers' are considered successful if they stay on the pitch.

What a load of nonsense.

Today he was shocking. Against Carlisle he was awful. And overall, I've seen nothing to convince me that he is a better kicker than Kuipers.

An interesting comment heard today is that certain people do not think either keepre is up to it and our main activity in the transfer market should be a keeper.

Interesting debate also about Darren Anderton. Anyone seen a better crosser of the ball to a more inept forward line?

Even if any of that were true, it in no way excuses the abuse he gets - it always amuses me that Brighton fans are held up as great fans, when we so regularly treat our players like this.

Abuse of Albion players is, of course, totally out of order - that goes without saying (even though I have just gone and said it).

I suspect successive managers' issue regarding Kuipers is his attitude, and by that I mean playing the Big 'I Am', and being VERY precious about his place in the team. Bear with me here. I had a conversation with him about two and a hlaf years ago when he was injured and it seemed that alan Blayney was coming to Brighton permanently. I suggested to him that it's a mark of his standing that the club feels it needs to get in an international to cover for him, as opposed to some temporary johnnie. He didn't like it one bit. He is very competitive, and precious and guarded about his place in the team, and, being Dutch (not to revert to stereotype here), is well known for airing his opinions quite forcefully.

I could be putting two and two together and coming up with seven, but reading between the lines, I think his absence from the team (when not injured) is not so much because of his ability, but more about his attitude. Admittedly, this was stuff goinbg on from three years ago, and I have no idea about the situation now.

and that's a fact!

Of course you did mutter when ckr scored THAT goal :p

I thought Henderson showed a lot of bottle in coming over to the fans at the end of the game. He was clearly devastated and didn't deserve to be booed-he didn't cough up the ball on purpose FFS. I personally didn't applaud the players today and I certainly didn't boo Henderson.

We were saying exactly that in the car on the way home, also he seemed to be charging down an awful lot of balls in the second half, not the first thing you'ld expect from Sicknote

funny that, as last season when we signed henderson, that was exactly my point.

if you wait long enough - people catch up ;)

we signed a keeper who wasn't any better than what we had. he isn't better than kuipers (they are about the same level), he wasn't better than chaigneau. None of the three were championship quality.

Although I do have more confidence in kuipers it is a toss up between him and fdm for the number one spot and there is no clearwater between them.

McGhee chose both Roberts and Henderson ahead of Kuipers.
When McGhee came in Kuipers was out because of his car crash was he not? And Roberts was good and part of a good defence so he never displaced him, but when he got his chance he made the number one shirt his own again, until another unfortunate serious injury....

Didn't go today - but very complimentary about him on the commentary.

My brother heard a rumour pre-season that he was going to a south coast club in our division and the club was..

...Brighton.
