When my son was told about Edgar Davids, ok that may be the wrong name, he was also told that we wont recognise over half of the team next season only by name so who knows what is happening whilst we type our assumptions and rumours.

Was it David Edgar - the Burnley player?

I highly doubt Tony Bloom is that STUPID.

I'm not thinking he's stupid, in fact the opposite, he's obviously an astute businessman.

I'm more pondering whether there's a perceived view out there that he's still got 100 million in his pocket instead of a more realistic 20-30 million.

If it's the later, perhaps it explains why we are possibly selling Crofts and not having an over the top wage structure.

There is NO WAY ON EARTH Bloom has only 100m in his pocket. If he has ploughed more than 20% of his personal wealth into the stadium then he is a terrible businessman.

Bloom is not a terrible businessman. I would estimate he is worth at least 800m.

History would suggest otherwise, so you can climb down off that horse..this club has excelled at f***ing up pre-season. Let's hope that it is different this year though.

Of course it will be different. We now have Tony Bloom, Gus Poyet and a new stadium that'll be ready in a year.

Gus is in bloody ARGENTINA scouting players already! Prutton and Hendrie are realistic targets.

I'm disapointed to lose Crofts but all in all I think we're in for a decent summer.

With that much wealth does he appear in Britains wealthiest lists?

I guess whenever we discuss such things it's all just pure fans speculation.

Something like the rich list can give a bit of a guide though.

:lolol::lolol::lolol::lolol::lolol:

I think you may be a tad optomistic there

If he is worth much less than that, don't you agree it is a terrible business decision to pump more than say 20-30% of your wealth into a football club?

No chance! I think he has invested a huge % of his personal wealth into the stadium because it needed to be paid for and its a lasting structure for the future.

We discussed this recently. You can opt out of those lists. Also I'm not sure Bloom is famous enough for them to make an accurate estimation of his wealth.

But....while he has said it was a "heart" decision he also said it was a "business" decision.

Putting a huge % of his wealth into a football club would be a terrible business decision.

So logical conclusion - is Tony Bloom a terrible businessman? No.

Are we really discussing the clubs ambition with reference to a transfer that:

a. Has not happened yet.
b. We do not know how much money we are receiving if the deal goes ahead.
c. Who we are replacing Crofts with.

I had forgotten how ridiculous this place gets over the summer. See you in August. Have fun.

Well he said as much at Seagulls over London. It's not a logical business decision. He's not doing this to make money. He's doing it because he loves the clubs and wants to secure its future and not see all the hard work in planning a new stadium go to waste.

You may very well be right, I was just putting 2 + 2 together to work out why we might be forced to sell Crofts when if we had a fairly decent backing from the board we shouldnt have to sell a player.

He's still under contract sp there would stil be a chance we could extend that contract.

But it wouldn't be securing our future if we then didn't have money for players, the playing side suffered, no crowds, we'd end up with no money and a ground that was costing us loads.

Perhaps I was overestimating, but I think it's fair to say Bloom has the funds for transfers if we need them.

I think him and Gus want to be sensible and build slowly though.

Well its securing out future in that we will have a stadium and can make money rather than lose money like we do at Withdean.

He certainly has the money to invest in the squad but not the millions upon millions some may think. It will be done sensibly like you say.
