Harvey's in London

The closest pub to my office that stocked the drink of the gods (Ye Olde Watling on Bow Lane EC4) has recently dis-continued it. The other pubs I know of in London are The Royal Oak, Market Porter and forget the name but its on the south side of Tower Bridge. This is not a disaster as I live within 10min walking distance of all three, but was wondering if anyone knows of anywhere else around the city (or elsewhere in London for future reference) where I can still purchase this liquid delight?

The White Horse, or Sloaney Pony in Parsons Green does it, or did it the last time I was there. But it doesn't travel well.

Some of the pubs (the ones in Lewes) have been sold to Greene King - be careful.

Or 01273 480209 - they're very nice people.
Or info@harveys.org.uk

Spoke to Harvey's (who are indeed very nice) but they can't help as they don't hold a current list. Bit strange, not knowing which customers you supply. Guess I will just have to keep exploring, not a great hardship.

Most freehouses probably get their Harveys from Waverley TBS Wholesalers rather than the brewery direct, hence Harveys won't have a complete record of who stocks their products.

On the subject of Harveys in London, I'm a big believer in drinking the local brew...why not have a pint of Youngs or Fullers?

The LA has been a Greene King pub since 1998.

Because both, especially Youngs, are complete stale dogpiss compared to the Ousewater. Yuk.

Fair enough. I do indeed like a pint or few of both Young's and Fullers which both provide very pleasant refreshment. They do not however titillate my taste buds in anything like the same fashion as a good pint of Sussex Best.

The Lewes Arms is now owned by Greene King.

First thing that happened was that they took Harvey's off the pumps. Next thing that happened was the customers left. After that, three of the pumps had Harvey's (unprecedented in a Greene King pub - probly). The regulars returned shortly thereafter. Lord Bracknell and/or roz can give you a better version of events. I am exaggerating on a certain level, but the residents are as passionate and protective of their Harvey's as we are of the Albion.

My step-daughter works in there. As does roz's son. :drunk:

That's a bit harsh. Mind you Young's has gone downhill since they comercialised their process.

Harvey's have never owned many pubs in Lewes - the Swan at Southover isn't really in Lewes and the Dorset Arms and John Harvey Tavern are both recent developments.

They always sold their beer through Beard's pubs. And it's Beard's who have sold their pubs to Greene King. And it's Greene King who have to be watched, because they are intent on removing Harvey's from their pubs.

Interesting - I wonder if the same thing could happen at the Regency in Brighton, which is now exclusively doling the equally-foul Shepherd Neame. OK, the atmosphere has changed a bit too but the reason I don't go in there anymore is, obviously, because there's no H.

Which is why the Royal Oak is so shit. Other than that there isn't a single pub in Lewes that you can't get Harvey's. Does the Snowdrop sell it?

The Lewes Arms is my second favourite pub in Lewes.
