A splendidly parochial view, in my opinion!

Years and years ago, the deal between Beard's and Harvey's was that Harvey's would have NO pubs in Lewes and Beard's would have NO pubs outside Lewes.

That's why the Swan is a Harvey's pub.

I don't know whether this dates back to the days when even Harvey's Brewery wasn't in Lewes.

As a bonfire boy, you'll be well aware of how important the ancient boundaries are.

PS - any truth in the rumour that Southover will be marching on the 3rd this year?

I have to say I was quite impressed with just how anal that comment was.

There was a pub that served Harvey's opposite the post office in Charing Cross. Can't for the life of me remember its name though. I'll check it out on the way to the station.

They serve Harveys in the white horse, Fulham.

I would recommend it, with their fish and chips. Lovely
