To me I think it is Adams surrounding himself with players who he knows and gets on well with rather than stick with, what is essentially, a squad built by Wilkins - most of them from a young age.

Waste of money.

I enjoy reading The Complete Badger's posts. I don't always agree and often think he has gone over the top but entertaining. In this case possibly keeping on Mayo is ok but not Hart. We have a lot of cover in the positions that Hart plays but not so much at left back. I was more disappointed at Reid leaving.

Wasn't Hart's other offer from Cambridge?

Didn't Mayo say in The Argus a few weeks back he had had offers from non-league Sussex clubs but was WAITING for a league club?

where is hart POSSIBLY going to play this season? barring some sort of injury/suspension crisis, how is he going to get a game? mayo ok, back up left back (although i dont think we NEED a specialist back up for that position). but hart, right back? no, whing/el abd/about five other players who could do a job. right midfield? no, cox is a nailed on starter i think most people would agree, and then robinson as back up. and although our back up strikers get widely criticised on here (unfairly i think) is hart actually a better STRIKER than dixon/gatting/gargan any more? i really dont believe he is.. i think hart was a particularly poor decision, but taking the wage bill into consideration, giving mayo a new contract should also probably been avoided in my opinion

Nail on head Barney After last season where we had the injury problems isn't it better to have strength in depth

Why pay experienced players to play in the reserves all season when we should be using it as another rung towards the first team for promising youngsters?

Perhaps because they are not very promising?

OGH and KM are on half the money they were on last year. No one expects them to play 30-40 matches, but both are good squad players who won't be overawed by an occasion, and clearly MA has seen enough in training to give them another chance.

It does come down to opinion at the end of the day, and Mickey's is different to Wendy's, it doesn't make either person right or wrong, just different.

Hart filled in at right back. Now though we have Virgo, Whing and El Abd who can play there. Dosn't that remove the need for Hart as backup?

Right midfield we have Cox, Robinson, Fraser - even Chamberlain and Dixon could probably fill in for one game there.

Up front? Murray, Forster, Gatting, Gardan, Robinson, Dixon, Virgo ALL above Hart.

So where do we need him as back-up for?

What a load of crap..........Mayo and Hart both have the ablity to play at this level of football.

Also the main advantage this season is we have a manager who is able to man manage his players and knows how to get the best out of them.

As for the suggestion that Rents and Reid should have been signed instead... how can you argue that Hart and Mayo wouldn't have got contracts from league clubs and then argue to sign Reid and Rents, who haven't got offered contracts from league clubs.

Micky has always bought players to this club who have experience of winning things, because it is important to have players around who have achieved. Hart and Mayo like it or not are winners and i for one think they could prove to be shrewd signings.

Richie have you gone totally f***ing mental??

Robinson maybe the other four are no way better than OGH

i appreciate that but with the players we've had come in already our squad did look a lot stronger, the youth players are a year older, and some of them seem to be knocking on the door for the first team (chamberlain, fogden, wills, royce, louis, gargan all featuring a lot in the pre season), and there were rumours that we still wanted to bring one or two more in.. i hope these rumours dont disappear now.. this two big name signings would have turned out to be a very sick joke if they were hart and mayo all along

Not mad in the slightest.

Virgo clearly did a better job upfront than Hart in that he scored a decent amount in the Championship despite only playing half a season there.

Gatting might not the energetic player Hart ONCE was but his record scoring suggests he is no mug infront of goal. He looks short on confidence but the talent is there.

Dixon. Well he hasn't set the word alite by any means but he isnt THAT bad and so far all we have really seen of him in competitive games is the odd RARE start and 10 and 15 minutes here and there. Certainly not enough to judge someone on.

Gargan? Well he looked half decent when he came on at Bristol Rovers last season and is certainly a good prospect.
