Well, it might matter to you. But thankfully, in the real world, it doesn't.

Of course, if you want to insult Micky's integrity and believe think he's done this out of spite, or, as others have stated, that he's done this out of sentiment, you go ahead.

I, meanwhile, am of the opinion that Micky knows a f*** sake more about his job than anyone on here, so I'm going to go along with his judgement.

Ah the bastion when you have run out of reasonable argument, play the manager knows best card...

For what it is worth I actually thought Mayo got a rough deal at the end of last season. He came in for Richards and did well, but was still discarded. Regarding Hart, fairly indifferent. You know what you will get, sadly the leg break in 2002 and the years have taken a few yards of pace from him and ultimately a bit like Virgo, I do not really know where he is going to play.

So if we'd signed 2 31 year olds from DIFFERENT League 1 clus who've been playing for 10 years, you'd still be pissed off?

yeah...cos they would've been released because they were shit more than likely!

Useful additions to the squad.

they are not going to be first choices, but offer a good back up option should we encounter injuries or suspension.

If we had two players who were very good in that position, without a clear first choice, it could lead to problems with team harmony, as both would expect to start but only play one. Hart and Mayo will know their roles and accept it.

Mayo is a good squad signing.

Harty, I'm not so sure, but fair play to the guy he has taken a massive wage cut (his words) to stay with the club and we should give him due respect for that. Which we will do Saturday!

I am the most optimistic I have been for years. I really think we have a very competitive squad.

bloody hell can't believe these two got new contracts, been waiting years for them both to leave yet it never happens. Its a complete waste of money and a big big backwards step:thud:

I'm not sure my disapproval of ONE albion player out of a squad of 30+ is that big a crime if I'm honest with you. Still, you obviously think so. Whatever way you look at it, it is boring.

Crime?
Further examples of your vocabulary limitations again perhaps, both here and on the original post.

Enjoy the show - I mean it.

I think Micky knowing better is the clinching argument - it certainly trumps anything any of us can offer, especially as he has known those two for quite a while.

Agree with the rest of it, though.

I'm affraid Mayo is in a no win situation when it comes to Badger. The slightest mistake and our good friend will be the first one to slate him on here, gloating"i told you so" You won't hear the last of it i promise, trying to score points over fellow people on NSC.But when the time comes to praise Mayo this will be swiftly diverted by the brilliance of another player. He maybe the prince to all sensible Brighton fans, but one that wears a crown of thorns by our friend Badger.

As for Mayo, of course I'm not hoping he fails, but many people on here seem to think he was "really good" at the end of last season, yet I still saw him get totally raped and cost us goals at Southend AND Huddersfield. If that's him on form, I dread to think what he'll be like in a bad patch. Anyway, I think the best thing all round will be for Richards to play 46 times next season then everyone's happy!

I take your point.

And Alex Dawson's as well. 'Raped', in this context, is such an inappropriate word, used so lightly. :nono:

I thought Mayo had done well in pre-season, and he looked like the best player we had in the first half of the Lewes friendly, Yet he still came in for critism from some, who thought he was the worst player.

Their critism seemed to stem from his occassional passing of the ball into the space up the wing (which McCloud got onto the end of the passes). They only think a pass is any good if it is hit over a short distance to someones feet rather than seeing a ball hit into space for someone to run onto as a valid tactic. (maybe that is what he was asked to do)
Def. worth his new contract imo.

Compared to any of us who post on here, "The Manager knows best" is THE most reasonable argument.
