He doesn't deserve to be booed.
Wanted more money, and probably fed up of being slagged off by his own supporters week in week out.
Good luck to him.
Sums it up for me.

So why did he lie to the club that gave him a career then?
If it a choice between that or doing a Luton, I think I can live with it.
What lie ?

THIS oneWhat lie ?
You really believe Hammond was slagged off to the extent he would want to leave the club he grew up in. Get real, he's a professional footballer. By moving to Colchester he's shown it was just about the money.
Anyway, he's gone now, lets look at the positives - we got £250 000 for an average player who would have left for nothing in the summer.
THIS one
Webb (agent) stressed: "This should not be interpreted as a desire by Dean to leave the club. Dean would like to play in the Championship with Brighton. We cannot, however, determine whether he is able to do that until the end of the season. Yes, he is a Bosman and the thought process might be that the agent will just move him on at the end of the season but that is not right because, if Albion get into the Championship and there is further discussion on a contract, I think there is every probability of keeping the player."
"From the player's point of view, there is no reason for him to agree on a new contract today and that is not because he wants to go but simply because he wants to see where Brighton are at the end of the season and what sort of investment Brighton make in players - to see whether they are going to have a good go for the rest of the season and if they go up."
"What Brighton have put to Dean is a situation where they want a decision now. If they wish to force the issue that is their prerogative but Dean has not asked to leave the club or said he wants to leave."
How is that a lie... he wants to play in the championship. The club wouldn't take the risk, so rightly we sold him. If he was all about money, he could have turned down Colchester and picked up a big signing on fee in the summer
What i was trying to say is he probably had more reasons to go than stay. Money id obviously the main reason, but i believe there were others. If it was just about money he would have refused any transfer and waiting for that big signing on fee in the summer. Coupled with the fact that most people seemed to be slagging him off probably added to the reasons to go
Well, it looks like he'll get...oooh...a good 3-4 months worth of Championship football now, doesn't it. I dunno what Colchester are paying him, but this "show ambition" malarky was clearly a smokescreen - he just wanted more money, simple as. Perfectly understandable, and it happens all the time. How is that a lie... he wants to play in the championship. The club wouldn't take the risk, so rightly we sold him. You are clearly only reading what you want to read.
And this from Nicky Forster (who Hammond had presumably been lying to as well)
"I want to push forward and get back up into the Championship where I feel I can play and the club can go. At the moment the ambition from the club doesn't seem to mirror that and I think that is the reason why Dean Hammond is reserving judgement.
"The way I see it, and I think the way all the players see it, is that there is no doubt about it, if Dean Hammond gets the assurances that the club will strengthen the squad and make a push for promotion then he will sign."
"From speaking to him I have got no doubt in my mind about that but he obviously at the moment isn't getting the assurances that the club are going to do that.
"He sees that he could have another few years in this division (League One) and for a young player captaining the side, playing well week in and week out he wants to do the best he can. I think it would be with a very heavy heart that he would leave this club but, for the sake of his future, he might feel that he needs to."

Why couldn't he just be honest about it, instead of taking us all for mugs ?
As are you.. have you heard Hammond actually say anything ?
DK and the agent are both lying, somewhere in the middle is the truth, something we will probably never know.
At the end of the day have we moved forward over the past 12 months, no !!
In fact this season is turning into an exact copy of last.... so maybe time for Hammond to move on as very unlikely we will be playing Championship football for a while yet
maybe just boo the chairman. no ambition, just trying to profit on players.
