We've reached the stage where the sport is so badly run there's more swapping of places OFF the track than ON it!...

Why the f*** would Mclaren give misleading evidence just to score a couple more points, this sport is now a laughing stock and i bet hamilton gets some more punishment for it later

If the diffuser is outlawed they wont change the results from the previous grand prix's they'll just ban it from that point onwards.

BBC commentator and former F1 driver Martin Brundle said: "This does not look good for Hamilton or McLaren.

"Hamilton passed Trulli as he was off the road. Hamilton clearly wondered then, to give him the benefit of the doubt, if he had passed under the safety car conditions and was trying to let Trulli back through.

"There was a point when he was doing just 15mph in his McLaren and Trulli had no option but to repass him.

"I think Lewis then saw half a chance of a third place instead of a fourth, went up to the stewards and didn't give them the full story.

"Now they've matched up his comments (to them) to radio content between him and the team, and other information they've gathered, and they've decided that effectively he was telling fibs.

"I think it's a big issue and it's not going to go away. If they were asked a direct question they should have given the right answer, and they clearly didn't."

some people here need to grow out of their anti ferrari bais, seems to me this was just a f*** up due to stupidity and overbearing officials who cant work things out for themselfs. surely there is video evidence of everything that happened and they have access to track telematry(whatever) and radio, they should have worked this out for themselves, rather than asking drivers opinons. and if, as above Brundle says Hamilton/McLaren approached the stewards over the issue, it does look like they've tried to sneak up a place.

Having listened to the radio between Hamilton and his pit crew (it's on the BBC website) I really can't see what they've done wrong. They followed the rules, gave the place back and then afterwards went to the stewards and basically said 'we gave this place back, we don't know if we had to and without doing so we clearly would have been third'. I doubt they were trying to get Trulli disqualified as originally happened. It's bizarre, the FIA should have just decided to classify one of them third and one fourth and left it at that.

I'm not convinced on this. Lewis was interviewed by some silly cow after the race on the BBC who made Fiona Phillips look like Paxman. He asked her 'Did you hear the conversation on the radio? She said 'Yes' but didn't think to ask what those conversations were or explain them to the viewer.

The team radio is available to all. Is Lewis really stupid enough to lie to the stewards knowing this? He must have known this would come out. Also, how come its taken 4 days to do so? Something does not add up to me.

If they do like some people are saying and exclude Lewis for the season then it will be the biggest mistake that they have made. If they like it or not he is one of the hottest stars in the sport and some people tune in just to see him race.

Wasn't it Trulli slowing down big time that gave Lewis the World Championship on the last bend of the last race in Brazil? Not a bad trade really, a world championship won in one race and a few points lost in the next race because of the same driver not being able to keep his car on the road.

Only a twat with no understanding of F1 would seriously suggest such an ill thought out solution.

No but he strikes me as a bit more intelligent than say Ashley Cole or my personal favourite thickie Glenn Johnson

Ah yes. Glenn Johnson. He is brilliant isnt he. He seems to live in a total bubble. Forgets passport, forgets to pay for toilet seats. Isnt there some incident with his car or something? Did he forget he had one? He forgets a lot of things.

Both Mclaren and Hamilton have now gone way down in my estimation.

Putting it simply, they have misled FIA to gain 6 points from 3rd place at the expense of Truli whom is highly respected within F1, Hamilton is now imo showing his true colours.

As far as I am concerned, Button has a far better character than Hamilton and its about time he had a competitive car for someone I feel hs better driving skilll than hamilton ever will have!

I've just done the same thing and agree with you

BBC SPORT | Motorsport | Formula 1 | Hamilton's team radio during Australian GP

Surely the most sensible thing would have been for the bell end stewards to listen to the transmissions before they make any kind of ruling? Common sense and F1 don't go together.

The Formula One teams obviously don't agree with you otherwise he would have had a decent drive years ago. I do like him but to suggest he is better than the youngest ever world champion is somewhat ridiculous when he's won two GP in his life.

Is this honourable Button the same one who signed a contract with Williams and then whelched on it when Honda took over his then team BAR and he thought he'd like to stick around? Far more dishonourable than telling a porkie to thick stewards after a race imo
