BORING!

It seems quite fashionable to slate Barnes (although I have been encouraged by the response to this thread). Ignore the fact that CMS is in the worst form of his life, the fact that we have FOUR questionable 'keepers (although Brez's form has only dipped in the last 2 games), the fact that Dunk has been poor at best for the last 2/3 games, the fact that Barnes does more defensively than any stiker at the Albion in years... No lets have a go at Barnes because other people do, completely ignoring more legitimate targets and facts.

SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, here's an idea: Stop slagging off our players full stop! We are outperforming expectations this season so people really need to have a reality check.

I personally really like barnes, he is one of are only players par el-abd who is aggressive and shows a bit of grit, and he is what 22 or 23? he tracks back and interlinks with the midfield and forwards, he pops up everywhere making challenges!!

Right you is Chief. I knew there'd be a rational explanation, honest...

I personally don't have a problem with Barnes and to be fair he has probably been one of our most improved players / consistent players this season, people have to remember he has been asked to play in a different role of late, sitting in the hole behind the striker and playing a lot deeper than he has previously, yes he can be petulant at times and he does tend to give the ball away, but overall his work rate and tracking back have seen him quite rightly applauded for his efforts.

My personal view is that the addition of Razak and Assulin and the return of Sparraw from suspension, it may well see a change in the way we setup and on that basis I feel it maybe the end of Barnes playing in that deeper role, you then have to ask yourself if he is ahead of CMS and Vokes in the pecking order for an out and out forward role ? My honest answer is no.

My god the negative comments about whoever are boring. I respect opinion and different views but not all players play well every game and you can only judge truly at the end of the season. Barnes has been a surprise package for me as did not expect him to do so well. He has played out of position too. Think now we have vincente back and other options gus will chop and change around now. Vokes and cms up top for a run needs to happen though even if that means Barnes on bench for a while.

Gentlemen

This isnt about getting on Poor ole Ashleys Back, this isnt about having a pop at "Someone" This is an opinion shared by many who watch us week in and week out.

At the end of the Day ask your self this (Before the last 2 Signings) If all were fit would Barnes be one of the best 11 players at the club? IMHO No not by a long chalk.

When Barnes loses the ball, he will do 1 of 3 things: 1, Commit a foul to get the ball back, or 2, stand there for 4-5 seconds and then jog towards play to see if he can win it back or 3, Moan at the officials or the player who tackled him.

I hope and only hope that once the new midfield is born that Gus does 2 things:
1 Play Bertie and CMS together
2, Drop Barnes.

Exactly this....... exactly.

Is this

Gentlemen

somehow inconsistent with this

Maybe Gus watches a different player to me when Barnes is on the Pitch, However IMHO Barnes should not be in the reserves let alone the 1st team or Bench.

I would love to know what he tells Barnes to do when he enters the pitch, because I just can’t see that Gus tells him to Look Lazy, Disinterested, and moan at every opportunity!!

The Player offers us NOTHING other than being able to take a penalty.

But it was certainly having a pop at 'someone' wasn't it?

Maybe we share different views as to what is having a pop at someone, IMHO I dont think Barnes is good enough for the current team, That is an Opinion.

I think xyz is a wank3r, hes sh1t etc, That is having a pop at someone,

However the great thing is none of it really matters, as football is all based on opinions and we are (Although some would disagree) allowed to have our opinion and thoughts.

He did have a good first half at Liverpool.

That being said when he holds the ball up it is generally in our own half. When he links up midfield and front line this is also not in the final 3rd.

I really don't see what all the Barnes fan club on here see in him, but guess its horses for courses.

What we totally lack is an end product. Our final 3rd is horrendous. CMS likes to run in behind the defence and I can count on one hand the number of times we have passed to him whilst he has been making these runs this season.

Barnes is not to blame for this on his own, but he isn't the player lots of people seem to think he is IMO.

True, I would say that calling someone lazy, disinterested, moans at every opportunity and is not good enough for the RESERVES, who offers nothing to the team apart from taking a penalty (out of interest, how many of his 20 goals last season were penalties) is having a pop, in my opinion.

I don't think he has a 'fan club' as such, but people come to his defence because the nature of the criticisms of him appear to be petty, smallminded, vindictive and spiteful.

If it had not been for Barnes at Wrexham, we would not have been playing Liverpool last Sunday.

OK on the chin for point 2.

Last season is just that, League 1 against League 1 Defenders. Why does Michael Owen not start every week for the Northern Scum (Thats having a pop) He used to be brilliant!

Agree.
And when Barnes and Harley are moved on, there will be a desperate search from some Brighton fans for a new hate figure.
