Had to get this off my Chest after Sunday Poyet and his Obsession with Barnes

Silly old bat
I'm going to say I'm not a fan of Barnes at this level, he's 1st touch is poor, he's not strong on the ball and seems to spend alot of time falling over also he's shooting is alover the place but Gus sees something and just recently I've started to notice what it maybe. For all the faults I've listed he always seems to be in the right place or thick of the action maybe Gus thinks give the player time ( this is only his 2nd season and 1st at this level) and like Adam E he may come good.
He played for Plymouth at this level.

You clearly weren't at Palace. He was outstanding. The number of different roles Gus has asked him to play I'm not surprised he has had some bad games. I don't think he would be getting so much grief if he had put away the chances against Middlesbrough and Leicester. If you want to single out players for bad games on Sunday, look at the whole defence apart from El Abd.

Jesus Christ, he's been one of our best players for the last 5 games or so, and he wins us a ridiculous amount of free kicks.
He scores almost all of his penalties and is our top scorer this season.

And, statistically, he's still 5 years off his prime.
Get off his back.

Greer went to sleep completely for their 4th goal.

Absolutely - he was jogging back from the corner and wasn't even looking at what was going on around him - by the time he realised that Liverpool had broken away quickly they were well past him...

Why??... If a person has a view of a player, negative or positive, then its a free forum,.... I for one would have Barnes out of the side. We could do without 'triers' or 'headless chickens'..... Gus may have him in until someone else fills that gap, but filled it will be.

If we get a functioning central midfield 'General', with vision to keep the forwards employed for 90 minutes, then watch CMS go. Lets hope Razak is the one.

For a player who is excellent with the ball, static from twelve yards. It's amazing how he is so poor with it static from outside the area. The worst since Virgo used to take the free kicks. Can someone tell me why he takes some direct free kicks and has he actually hit the target with one all season. When he grabbed the ball Sunday, I had a little chuckle to myself. Then Lualua took responsibility. I can't see it. I think he is shite and always likely to pick up a silly card for being a gobby, bad temperament player.

In my opinion (and thats not worth a lot) I think Barnes has done well in the role that Gus has set him - I would question do we need someone in that role ? I would call him a defending forward - his role primarily appears to be stopping teams breaking and linking with midfield. He does link with midfield but it also tends to be a pass back most of the time. We are now a defensive possession side in the mould of continental sides. Obviously gus knows his stuff and results are speaking for themselves, but would we be better if we played the ball forward faster ? (and I do not mean longball - more like Swansea play).
