I stand corrected, it seems Worthing used to have plenty of up and coming bands playing there back in the day. Not the old “going through the motions” shite that seems to have been the case since I moved nearby

Great link - I wish I'd seen some of those (though I saw about half of them elsewhere) - didn't love fpr long in Worthing; my parents moved there while I was at Uni, so I didn't know anyone, and quickly moved away to work. The only gig I can remember going to from Worthing is Derek and The Dominoes in Brighton. Oh, and the Plumpton Festival where the penultimate act set fire to the stage!

Another band worth a mention (and I don't think anyone has on here yet) - a far better band than their pop singles reputation - I give you .............. Slade!

I've just had a light touch on my shoulder from the spirit of the much loved, sadly lost, catfish .... he wants me to add Out of The Blue by ELO, featuring the marvellous " Concerto for a Rainy Day " ..

Some brilliant stuff. I turned on the telly tonight and they had Top of the pops 1990s and it was absolute sh*t. 1970s was brilliant also like 1960s...

Yak was Part of the Worthing Workshop crowd, Some who may/may not lurk here . . . But are bonafide BHA fans and at least one still an ST holder. I and am grarteful of their friendship, they put on a lot of intergallactically good gigs and light shows in Worthing . . . THeir passion possibly fuelled further by PHUN CITY ( look it up!)

Worthing IMO is the thinking bands gig location. The tide has started to turn again, or at least had done until this year.

There’s some great stuff in that list, in particular for me Sabbath, Genesis and Wishbone Ash ( the latter still on tour) - it really was a golden age

It was but there is some breathtaking music around now. I loved my youth and the excitement of seeing amazing live stuff. Now I'm old. I still go to gigs but find it quite stressful. That said, if I were a betting man, I'd say the golden era is today and tomorrow.

Check these out. Volume pays dividends

The Lebanon Hanover track is quite.....something. No matter how hard I try to integrate I will always remain alien.

Dip in. These tracks are......amazing.

All I remember of the cool places to hang out in the short time i lived in Worthing was the Smugglers Rest and a coffee bar whose name I cannot remember. I knew nobody, and more significantly nobody knew me; consequently nobody ever spoke to me if they could avoid it.
My time in Worthing (a couple of summer breaks from Uni., and a few months after graduation before I got a job many miles away) were a long way from being the best time of my life!

I know I should be mentioning all sorts of albums/artists that have slipped out of my mind from the 1970s, but can I big up the new album by The Budos Band, which had all of us jiving around the kitchen a few hours ago.

Bowie 'Lodger'
Gene Clark 'No Other'
Brian Eno 'Here Come The Warm Jets'
Dylan, 'Blood On The Tracks'
Carole King 'Tapestry'
Nick Drake 'Bryter Layer'
Talking Heads 'Fear Of Music'
John Cale 'Paris 1919'
Roxy Music 'For Your Pleasure'
Big Star '#1 Record'

does 'Singles Going Steady' count?

Special mention to yor for being the first to offer Gene Clark.
I've not done as I'm told by focusing on artists rather than albums but, now you mention them, should have included Dylan, Drake and Roxy Music on mine too
