Liked him a lot, looked him up on Wikepdia, clearly a troubled soul to check out at 46!

Probably not a lot of those 70's musicians left in one piece given the drug culture of the time?

He's amazing. And if you want an even more troubled soul that checked out at an even younger age and, in my book, is about as talented as they get -- especially in terms of songwriting and arrangements -- check out Elliott Smith.

Loads of great albums and artists mentioned, but I have to also offer Sheet Music and How Dare You? By 10cc.

I know now from reading through this thread why I bought so many albums in the 70s despite still being a teenager when the decade finished. I always had a list of albums I wanted with me and almost became addicted to buying records.
