Hall is young and English, so he is a 'free' player, in a big squad.

Had he been Spanish I doubt he would have been picked up by a top Premier League side.

So you dont actually know? was the figure for compo ever released publicly?
Oh I thought it was around that, I certainly have no inside knowledge so if it wasn't released then no I don't know.

He's championship quality IMO, he's going to be 32 next month and imo for aslong as were in the championship he'll stay with us, i wouldn't be to suprised if he got an extra 2 years contract extension.
He can "Nuture" young players coming through and is very professional imo (some say he's not because His red cards, and shouting at koosh, for someone reason no-one can forgive him for).

For all i know, Spurs may of only seen Hall play development squad football and the game against Wrexham, so they have seen potential, I'm sure everyone would think Greer would be great if he played D squad football against teams like Hastings etc.

I'd be amazed if he got a contract extension - A huge backward step if we want to progress towards the prem. IMO of course.

Let hope he doesnt "Nuture" young players by trying to teach them how to head a ball.......!!

Perhaps yelling at them on the pitch might help..............no maybe not that either.....

i wasnt trying to catch you out stat. Im just amazed that Hall didnt get more opportunities than Wrexham. Perhaps Poyet thought he's young and wouldnt leave.

IMO  your blinded by hate of GG,
I'm FIRMLY in the Greer IN camp, and believe he's one of Gus's most underrated signings.
Your probably in the Greer OUT camp and lets leave it at that.

Sorry Jay, I'm very much in the GG IN camp, but I don't think he'll get an extension.

Assuming 1 or 2 centre backs of note arrive in the summer, I don't think Greer would want to stay as a squad player and no longer captain.

lol -Yeah ok mate.......

"your probably in the Greer out camp" errr let me think............ yes i think youve finally understood the underlying theme behind my posts. As ive said previously, to which you have paid no attention, i'm not trying to persecute Greer, im simply saying it as i see it..I dont think hes good enough for us. nothing more, nothing less.

Want to apologise, shouldve got the point across a bit more eloquently rather than this vindictive rant. wasnt intended to come across that way.

I think we just need to accept that his limitations create a number of problems for the team.

His lack of pace means that we have to defend deeper than most teams, which leaves too much space between the midfield and defence. Bridcutt is the best DM in this league IMHO but he even gets overun sometimes. This means we're leaving a lot of space for shots outside the box and also too many crosses coming in too regularly. It must make it hard for TK aswell......I wouldnt mind about the crosses if we could defend them ..

If you look at the number of goals weve conceded from those areas its way too high

I cant understand why our style of play /system is dictated by an average defender coming to the back end of his career at this level .....just to cover his limitations.

Players at this level have to be accountable, but he never mans up and takes responsibility. Even when he makes a mistake it always seems to someone elses fault.........thats the only thing i have trouble with. He's fine when things are going well, but when placed on the spot he gets found out, and loses every physical battle.

Wasnt meant to be a character assassination .....but we can do better at this point in our development.

One thing that struck me today.

Where were all you naysayers when Barnsley's offered the derisory figure of £75k, for Greer, in the Summer.

I don't remember anyone saying 'I'd bite their hands off', at the time.

Greer wasn't bleeping on the blame radar yet!

Personally, I think Greer is class and the first choice centre back. But we're trying to get to the Premier League, so I would look to replace him for next season. If we stay in the Championship I would give him another year but on less terms, but if we go up he'd be a candidate for release for me, to free up wages for replacements.

nick c and I have been consistent naysayers since the beginning.
You and Nick need to get your stories straight.

They all certainly have individual strong area's to there game,Tommy is the strongest in the air,Greer best on the floor,El-abd best for a scrap and dunky perhaps with the least experience is the best all rounder.Between the four of them we're well and truly covered in the centre back position,no need to worry about the defence what so ever.

It would be wrong of me not to post this one:-

A million pound player? Are you sure? For me, GG has been average at best this season.the most over rated player at the Albion for a long time. Maybe his little punch up with CMS earlier has something to do with this.
I long for a centre half who can dominate at set pieces at either end. We've been bad enough defending them but when was the last time you felt our centre backs would score from a corner?

I just find this thread to be incredibly sad, for so many reasons. I'm done with it now, I'm washing my hands of it.
