Palace fans are like that with Dougie Freedman, love the bloke but he isn't what he was but he is a hero to a lot of our fans.

Dougie is great. I would start him each and every week ahead of Kuqi. His football brain and experience is required and he can create something from nothing.

Not entirely true. That second season Kuipers did start the season as Roberts had done his back, but when Roberts was back in the squad, around the Gillingham away game, Kuipers kept the shirt due to his form.

However I know your views on Kuipers, so not much point really.

Have you seen him create something from nothing this season? Don't get me wrong i love the bloke but football doesn't stand still and although he has been a great player for us, its time for fresh blood.

I agree, shows how injury prone he is as thats a helluva a lot of games missed through injury.

Dont get me wrong I rate him quite highly as a keeper, however he is too injury prone for him to be considered a Number 1 IMO. We then have to be lucky with loans (Flinders is a fantastic bit of luck) when he gets injured.

Agreed, much like Kuipers last season? The difference being Henderson was wanted by a club. I expect us to sign a decent keeper in the summer as cover/competition.

Kuipers did not cover himself in glory last season, however there was no point in having him here when we had Henderson and Chaigenau as we hardly seem to play reserve games as it is and so he would never have got games.

However Kuipers did in the summer apologise for his actions and seems to have knuckled down and tried to fit for the shirt.

I have never rated Kuipers as I think his general goalkeeping is not as good as that we have had, This would be borne out by the fact that every other manager we have had has used him as the back up keeper. Also the fact of when he went onto the transfer list at his own request no other club were prepared to pay money for him, some would have had him on a free but not pay a fee however small.

I once said to MA that Kuipers had done well with some of his saves that were very good. His answer was 'that is what we pay him for if he didnt stop those shots which were simple ones really he wouldnt still be here.' This I think sums up Kuipers he dives and saves shots that most other keepers would just pick up or catch.

In the 60s when we had the best goalkeepers in the world in England this was a criticiscm that was levelled at all of the continental keepers.

Totally agree with you BG... as a keeper myself that is a very accurate assessment... I don't think any of the Kuiper's supporters are goalkeepers or they wouldn't have been blinded to the obvious fact that Kuipers makes the relatively easy look fabulous.

Not saying that's not a good thing tho... on the entertainment side.
