Shame really, this injury was diagnosed back in November maybe could/should have had his op then !

With hindsight yes but the medical team didnā€™t have the benefit of that when coming up with the initial recovery plan.

For this type of injury, a capsular ligament tear on his big toe, the normal recovery takes 4-6 weeks. However either the rehab has worsened the injury or it hasnā€™t healed as expected so he now needs surgery which could take 4-6 months to recover so basically ends his season.

You can see why when he should have only been out 6 weeks why they didnā€™t go with surgery straight away.

I think you're judging too soon. It took Ali Mac and Biss a lot longer to get going, last year Baleba looked very raw and mistake ridden, this year a different story.

Wieffer looked awful to begin with, but he's turned a corner last few, Ferdi been out, Gruda I am surprised hasn't featured more based on his glowing remit, MOR been out and in a couple of appearances looked average in one and scored a great winner in other. Not sure how anyone can draw a definitive conclusion yet.

Would agree that Rutter has done best so far, but it's not till season end or next season we'll really know.

Uncle Tone doesn't often deal in finished articles, it's rough diamonds requiring time and polishing.
Yes, so it's not judging too soon. It's just stating the fact that up to now the impact hasn't been as great as we'd hoped. Just a snapshot observation of the here and now, not what may happen in the future.

This must be a misjudgement from the medical team? Injury a couple of months ago and only just had his op.
Why?

See @Joey Jo Jo Jr. Shabadoo post above.

If an op wasnā€™t considered necessary at the time, then why take a player out of circulation to recover from an operation when he could heal in 4-6 weeks without one?

Good post.

However, at say week 4 post rehab, there would have been an in depth review of progress, so a little surprised it drifted a bit longer.

ā€œHurt his toe, out for the seasonā€ is a hell of a new benchmark even for our medical team in recent seasons

New conspiracy theory.

Players take turns on the "long term sick" rota to prevent building up too much game time. Keep them under the radar and prevent the Big Club Vultures coming in for them each window.

Wibble!

I wish they'd agree who's next and how long for before heading for the treatment table!
