Still not happy about this :(

It has quite upset me. Surely there is room for two quality keepers here?

Meopham, Kent.
I do NOT like this one little bit.

I'm a big fan of FDM and I think genuine competition for the gloves would bring out the best in them both.

Roberts looks very good, but he does rush out, and that WILL get him sent off at some point. If that happens Saturday we are stuffed.

Can anyone confirm this about "not being able to recall a player during their first month on loan". If that's the case, what do we do? get a keeper on loan ourself?

Makes no sense to me.

we'll end up getting beasant on loan from fulham no doubt if anything happens to Roberts, and it will be very weird

Getting a bit concerned with injurys and suspensions,so reckon its but time we got some players in as our squad is far to thin and the moment.:nono: :nono: :nono: :nono:

considering with Kuipers out we'll have 5 players out on loan, surely we have scope to get some players in

Maybe SC has in mind a lucrative transfer fee and enough cash to invest in the second string goalkeeper that he has already identified as right for the job.

Very shrewd words m'lud ;)

FDM has become an albion legend, he was awesome in the 2 championship seasons, and apart from the 'whoops' away at Waford last season, he was solid until injured. Very unhappy, as Roberts is injury prone.:nono:

Kuipers has been pretty injury prone too, hasn't he?

It's a month. Only a month. He can get some match practice.

Although I wouldn't be suprised if Beasent came back again should a problem occur.

I don't think Roberts will get injured in the next 30 days. I think Kuipers will get some good match practice and maybe his confidence back (he's been out for a long time). He may come back better and become our number one again.

hmmmmm - the last time Robert Lester Zamora winked like that he had the scoup about Roberts... I don't want the FDM to go 'cos I doubt whether we could get a good enough number 2 keeper. But if the funds release enough to get say, Kanchelskis, a good keeper and say a good forward, then who am I to say it's a bad idea

The official site says we've got some 19 year old coming in as cover on match days and that there is an instant-recall clause for FDM. I don't reckon this is with a view to a permanent move - just to give him match practice. He didn't look his usual self last season when he'd been missing for a bit - I reckon this is ok.

i do feel sorry for FDM but the injury has been pretty serious and you can understand SC reluctance to rely on him without hardly any football in the last year.

a month on loan great, but nothing permenant to PT please......

I wouldn't be worried. Keepers spend a lot of time on loan to various clubs as it is a specialised position. As a member of the goalkeepers union the best way to keep yourself going is to play in the first team, otherwise too long in the reserves and you'll get rusty and perhaps lack a bit of confidence in yourself when you are promoted. You need only look at Roberts' record to confirm this. Before this season he had played 77 games overall. For his permanent teams he played a total of 17 games (Middlesbrough 16, Charlton 1). The other 60 came on loan spells to other clubs (Hartlepool 4, Wycombe 15, Bradford City 2, Millwall 11, Luton 14, Reading 6 and Brighton 3). Without those loan spells where would have Roberts got the match practice he needed? I think this is what SC is doing to Kuipers, get a few matches in at Hull and have a reserve keeper who is match ready should he be called upon.
