I have said that I accept the decision, even though I don't agree with it - what more do you want?

But if you really want to share your brain like a planet, perhaps you can answer the following:

What is the difference between development and re-generation? What is being re-generated in East Brighton, in other words, what was once there, is either gone or is in decline, and is now being re-generated?

Why do the unemployed residents of East Brighton choose not to accept unskilled jobs in B&H despite them being available? Why will they choose the unskilled stadium jobs BTW? The uniform or something?

Love your posts by the way - they keep me amused for hours.

Septic me old buddy. Perhaps these unskilled jobs in B&H are not in EAST Brighton, they might be Hove or even Portslade (Still in B&H Boundaries) where the poor old people of EAST Brighton can’t get to them.

Glad you've decided to accept the decision now though.

As for my view on Blears decision, it is obvious that the SoS will use their discretion to agree to the development regardless of the regulations. She makes it clear in the decision letter that the development will harm the AONB, there are way too many parking spaces etc., but still gives the go-ahead, so it is obvious that any further resistance is a waste of time. As I understand it, even if FPC take it to court and show the decision to be a politically-motivated decision that completely ignores the rules, then it can still be given the go-ahead if the SoS has no shame. As having no shame appears to be a basic political requirement of the job, any further challenges are futile.

Prescott has given the thumbs up and so has Blears. I'd say that any chance of this being over turned is Extremely microscopic.
Like many others have stated this has now become a joke and the patients are wearing thin. :annoyed: Falmer will be developed, if not by this stadium something else, mark my words.

The site earmarked is not AONB get a f**king grip. Its like calling Iain Dowie handsome.

Falmer people are all talk about the stadium harming the AONB but correct me if i'm wrong, i thought the latest report on this stuff suggested that the area is no longer consider an AONB? How a stadium being built next to an A road and 2 universities is considered "Beauty" only god knows

The area won't be in an AONB if/when the South Downs National Park comes into being. However, the Secretary of State for DEFRA (Hilary Benn at present) won't be making any decision on that for quite a while.

Meanwhile, Hazel Blears acknowledged that while it is intended that the site won't be in an AONB in the foreseeable future, that because that process is still ongoing, she attached very little weight to the considerations regarding the proposed South Down National Park.

Did you? I only recall you saying that this was a wrong decision, based on political motivation. However, if you have chosen to accept it - good for you. So why are you still bleating?

Why do the unemployed residents of East Brighton choose not to accept unskilled jobs in B&H despite them being available? Why will they choose the unskilled stadium jobs BTW? The uniform or something?

Once upon a time, housing estates were built on vast scales - 10,000 homes or more - for people to live in either close to factories built outside of a metropolitan area or in a suburban setting away from the hustle and bustle of town centre existence, but in a place close enough to access the town if required.

Sadly, over the years, and for a number of reasons (including the demise of said factories) which many administrations have endeavoured to put right, many social problems built up within these estates. Social and economic neglect has led to a whole raft of problems to the extent that, in many cases, unemployment has led to crime, family breakdowns, poor health and other problems.

Financial, skills-led and education-based help is needed in these estates. This is where the stadium can help. The opportunity for jobs, skills training, education or re-education in a deprived area of the city can soon be right on their doorstep. It's something the club does very well at present for hundreds - if not thousands - of people across Sussex. Often re-generation requires development or re-development. The two can often go hand-in-hand.

Of course, it's a rather fleeting, generalised version of what has happened to many housing estates up and down the country over the past 75 years. But seeing as these people obviously choose to live unskilled and uneducated and choose not to have jobs, I don't know why you're really bothered. It's clearly not as though it's got anything to do with you. Or is it because they are being encouraged to enter a part of society you inhabit that so disgusts you?

BTW, do they all CHOOSE not to accept unskilled jobs? I didn't know that. I assumed that it was because they were all too ill-educated to make that informed decision in the first place. Oh well, that's taught me something.

Blimey, I am learning things today. I honestly never knew you had a sense of humour.

I have to agree that some of the posts here on Nsc do make me feel very uncomfortable and don't forget that FPC do read this board.
They also used these posts to try and get Roz arrested for harassment because as a moderator, she didn't delete them.

I know a lot of people think I am a middle aged busybody but please be careful what you post about Falmer people.
